About the Quantitative Trading Internship

Jane Street's summer trading internship is an immersive 10-to-12-week program where students learn the fundamentals of quantitative trading, market making, and algorithmic decision making. You will be paired with experienced traders who act as full-time mentors.

What You Will Do

• Participate in proprietary mock trading simulations, reacting to market events and pricing complex derivatives in real time.
• Build statistical and mathematical models to analyze historical market data and uncover structural trading opportunities.
• Learn functional programming in OCaml to design trading tools and automate desk workflows.
• Engage in daily discussions covering game theory, risk management, market microstructure, and financial regulations.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student graduating between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
• Strong mathematical ability and mental math agility; background in Math, Physics, CS, Economics, or Engineering.
• High intellectual curiosity, competitive problem-solving drive, and ability to make decisions under uncertainty.
• No prior finance experience required — we teach you everything you need to know.

Compensation & Relocation

• Competitive compensation package (equivalent to $140,000 – $175,000 annualized).
