Software Engineer, Beneficial Deployments

Role Overview & Mission

Anthropic's Beneficial Deployments team works to ensure our Claude AI models are deployed safely and beneficially to high-impact domains including scientific research, healthcare diagnostics, and education. We are seeking a full-stack Software Engineer to build the core developer platforms, security perimeters, and specialized API interfaces used by global research institutions and public-benefit partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, high-throughput API endpoints and SDKs that connect Claude to external enterprise workflows and scientific databases.
• Build automated evaluation and red-teaming pipelines that detect misuse vectors before new model weights are deployed.
• Collaborate with policy researchers and safety scientists to implement dynamic content governance filters and auditing tools.
• Maintain high availability, fault tolerance, and low latency across our multi-cloud deployment fleet.

Qualifications & Experience

• 4+ years of software engineering experience shipping scalable backend systems and developer APIs in TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Experience designing robust authentication, rate limiting, and permission hierarchies for multi-tenant cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Passionate commitment to the ethical, safe, and beneficial development of artificial intelligence.

Compensation & Total Rewards

• Base Salary: $250,000 – $375,000 per year + Anthropic equity.
