Role Overview

The Personalization Infrastructure team designs the algorithms and real-time distributed systems that dynamically generate every personalized row and tile on Netflix home screens across the globe. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable real-time machine learning inference systems that evaluate tens of millions of recommendations per second with sub-50ms latency.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain high-throughput, low-latency microservices that serve ML model predictions in real time to hundreds of millions of members.
• Partner with research scientists to implement bandit algorithms, deep ranking networks, and causal recommendation models.
• Scale distributed offline training and feature store pipelines using Java, Python, Apache Kafka, and Apache Flink.
• Design rigorous online A/B testing frameworks to measure member engagement, retention, and content discovery.
• Operate with high freedom and responsibility in Netflix's unique culture of candid feedback and continuous innovation.

Qualifications & Experience

• 6+ years of software engineering experience building high-scale distributed systems and real-time ML serving architectures.
• Proficiency in Java or C++, along with Python for ML workflows.
• Deep understanding of concurrent programming, JVM performance tuning, and distributed data systems (Cassandra, Redis, Kafka).
• Strong communication skills and the self-motivation to navigate ambiguous, complex technical challenges independently.

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: $450,000 – $650,000 per year (Netflix provides top of personal market all-cash compensation with flexible stock option allocation).
