Global Technology - Director - Investment Banking Engineering

What is the Position? Evercore is seeking a Director for Investment Banking Technology, responsible for leading engineering delivery, architecture, and platform integration across key technology capabilities. The role requires hands-on technical and architectural leadership on a native Azure, .NET environment. The successful candidate will partner closely with Investment Banking leadership, bankers, business and product stakeholders, Data & Analytics, Information Security, Compliance, DevOps, App Support, vendors, and external delivery partners. The role will focus on engineering execution and integration across Investment Banking technology platforms and capabilities, including Enterprise Search, data-enabled workflows, and the broader technology landscape.

 This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical depth, executive presence, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. The ideal candidate will combine strong delivery capability with deep technical architecture expertise and will be comfortable remaining close to the technology while leading teams and driving execution.

Key Responsibilities: 

Engineering Delivery & Platform Integration

• Drive engineering delivery and integration across Investment Banking technology platforms such as Knowledge Management, data-enabled solutions, and other workflow integration solutions using Azure.
• Lead developers working across multiple technologies, primarily focused on the Microsoft stack (.NET, C#, Azure, SharePoint, SQL Server, etc.).
• Translate business and product priorities into scalable technical plans, delivery roadmaps, integration approaches, and implementation strategies.
• Ensure technology solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, well-integrated, and aligned to banker workflows and business priorities.

Technical Architecture & Engineering Leadership

• Bring hands-on experience as a technology leader with Azure and Microsoft technologies.
• Review and provide direction on solution designs, integration patterns, platform architecture, API strategies, data flows, and technical tradeoffs.
• Provide technical direction to contractors, vendors, and matrixed teams.
• Partner closely with other development organizations and consume shared data platforms such as Azure Databricks to deliver Investment Banking-facing technology capabilities.

Team Leadership

• Provide delivery through a mix of contractors, vendors, and matrixed internal technology teams.
• Mentor and lead 5 contractors/developers, with expected growth through a balanced mix of full-time employees and contractor resources.
• Influence vendor evaluation and partner with DevOps, Infrastructure, and other platform teams.
• Provide engineering oversight for Azure-based environments in coordination with DevOps and infrastructure teams.

Executive & Business Engagement

• Serve as a technology partner to Investment Banking COO leadership, Banking Partners, bankers, and deal teams.
• Work directly with bankers and deal teams, communicate clearly with key stakeholders, and build relationships across business, technology, and vendors.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in engineering, platform leadership, enterprise technology delivery, or related technology leadership experience. Experience in financial services, capital markets, investment banking, or similarly complex regulated environments is strongly preferred.
• Strong Azure architecture and technology implementation experience with the Microsoft technology stack, including .NET, SQL Server, SharePoint, and related technologies.
• Experience leading engineering delivery, combined with strong hands-on technical expertise across cloud platforms, APIs, distributed systems, data integration, enterprise architecture, and secure engineering practices.
• Experience managing vendor-led, contractor-led, and matrixed delivery teams.
• Strong executive communication skills and the ability to engage credibly with business and technology stakeholders.

Expected Base Salary Range: $200,000-$210,000
