Who we're looking for
At TFS, we're building next-generation products that redefine mobility for millions of customers worldwide. We're looking for a Junior Engineer with a passion for front-end development who's eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real products used at scale.
This role is for someone early in their career who writes clean code, asks great questions, and wants to build solid engineering habits from day one. You'll work alongside experienced engineers who will help you level up — while you contribute meaningfully to the user experiences that power our customer-facing products.
This position is based in Plano, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.
Build and maintain front-end features using React and Next.js as part of a collaborative engineering team
Write clean, readable, well-tested code that follows team standards and patterns
Participate in code reviews — both giving and receiving feedback to grow your skills and improve code quality
Debug and troubleshoot front-end issues, working through problems methodically and asking for help when needed
Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and team planning sessions
Learn and apply engineering best practices: testing, accessibility, performance, version control, and deployment workflows
Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver features from concept to production
Take ownership of well-scoped tasks and deliver them with increasing independence over time
Grow your understanding of the full stack — including how front-end applications interact with APIs and backend services
What you bring
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience (bootcamp, self-taught with portfolio, etc.)
Up to 2 years of software engineering experience (internships and academic projects count)
Foundational knowledge of React and component-based UI development
Comfortable writing TypeScript — or strong JavaScript fundamentals with eagerness to adopt TypeScript
Basic familiarity with Next.js and rendering concepts (SSR, SSG, client vs server components)
Experience with Tailwind CSS or similar utility-first CSS approaches
Basic understanding of state management concepts and tools like Zustand or React Context
Understanding of how to consume REST APIs and handle async data in the UI
Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows (branching, pull requests, code review)
Some experience writing tests — unit or component tests with Jest, Vitest, or Testing Library
Curiosity and a growth mindset — you're comfortable saying "I don't know" and then going to figure it out
Good communication skills — you can explain what you're working on and ask for help when you need it
Added bonus if you have
Experience with Next.js App Router and modern React patterns (Server Components, Suspense)
Familiarity with component libraries like shadcn/ui, Radix UI, or similar
Exposure to E2E testing with Playwright or Cypress
Familiarity with Zod or similar validation libraries
Any experience building or consuming GraphQL APIs
Exposure to cloud deployment basics — how front-end apps are hosted and served on AWS (S3, CloudFront)
Exposure to GenAI tools or AI-assisted development workflows
Familiarity with monorepo setups or modern build tools like Vite
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal project portfolio
