Principal responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Drive cost efficiency by identifying synergies across markets for data spending.
- Understand global AI use cases and produce market level roadmaps of adoption, support Asia International Market COO's identifying key initiatives to advocate for acceleration.
- Partner with Market / GBGI CDAO and LOB to identify commercialization use cases to drive value out of R&C & Simplification portfolio e.g. commercialisation of payments data.
- Oversee Data Change related initiatives.
- Provide support AME International Market COO with data for Innovation related initiatives.
Data Enablement and Commercialisation
- Build and manage a pipeline of scalable, data-backed use cases across Asia International Markets, from ideation through delivery and adoption.
- Identify and commercialise use cases that unlock value from strategic portfolios (e.g., Risk & Controls, Simplification).
- Drive regulatory reporting automation and enable re-use of data assets for analytics, MI, and business performance improvement.
- Partner with Market / GBGI CDAO and LoB to map improvement opportunities in regulatory reporting, MI, and information fulfilment; champion reporting simplification across markets.
- Support business development and operational efficiency by enabling self-service insights and fit-for-purpose data products.
Cross-market Strategy, Roadmaps, and Cost Efficiency
- Understand global AI and data use cases and translate them into market-level adoption roadmaps, prioritised by value, feasibility, and risk.
- Identify synergies across markets to improve cost efficiency and reduce duplication in data spend, tooling, and delivery approaches.
- Support International Market COOs in identifying and advocating for initiatives requiring acceleration or investment.
Delivery Oversight: Data Change and Execution Governance
- Oversee data change initiatives across Asia International Markets, ensuring delivery discipline, benefits tracking, and stakeholder alignment.
- Drive delivery and execution of data risk reduction across Asia International Markets, leveraging on the AME Data Risk Reduction Book of Work and other such investments across Asia International Markets.
- Alignment of relevant OKRs and metrics from HSBC Data Strategy, prioritization of funding, and progress reporting, addressing data related regulatory expectation, and contribute to the reduction of data risk rating for Asia International Markets.
- Establish an effective mechanism to triage new data risk demand to respective delivery pods for prioritisation and execution, with DAO and AME CDAO portfolio and project management team.
- Contribute to measurable reduction in data risk ratings and improved control automation outcomes.
Data Literacy and Enablement At Scale
- Champion data literacy, self-service, and adoption of best practices across Asia International Markets.
- Support CDAO for Asia International Markets in sharing data best practices across markets and building a consistent enablement approach.
- Develop foundational training content and materials to uplift data capability across the teams.
- Deliver the data enablement activity plan for Asia International Markets (communications, training, adoption metrics).
Requirements
Essential Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data / Business Analytics, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years’ progressive experience in data, datasets, and data tooling; including at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale data/analytics delivery.
- Solid knowledge of data enablement practices, data commercialisation, data platforms, and data management trends.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and execute improvement opportunities in the data domain; exposure to tools / languages such as Python, Alteryx, Qlik Sense (or equivalent).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across senior executives and diverse delivery teams.
- Strong understanding on HSBC’s Value Stream construct and its evolving changes, with relevant expertise to manage investment discussions, delivery roadmap and metrics.
- Strong understanding in HSBC’s organizational and awareness on recent changes across the enterprise, with solid experience to navigate complexities across global, regional, and market expectations.
- Strong literacy and understanding on the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy and its Execution Roadmap, across key technology components (Reference Data, Data Fabric, Control Automation), and business outcomes (e.g. Non-Resident Chinese growth for Hong Kong business).
