Principal responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end product for China, acting as the primary Product Owner and senior stakeholder interface.
- Define and execute the product roadmap, including a long-term vision aligned to Group AI strategy and local market needs.
- Lead and coordinate a cross-functional team, providing direction, prioritisation, and delivery oversight across pods.
- Build and evolve features using user feedback, MI/analytics, and research; ensure solutions are cost-effective, supportable, and reusable across HSBC where possible.
- Partner closely with engineering to shape high-level requirements, refine scope, and ensure shared understanding before build.
- Establish and run an effective intake and prioritisation process for requirements, including backlog management and transparent decisioning.
- Create repeatable mechanisms to gather colleague feedback with Customer Success, and communicate progress, releases, and value delivered.
- Define success metrics and OKRs; use MI to drive product decisions, adoption, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Track market and user behaviour changes (habits, preferences, usage patterns) and adjust roadmap and delivery plans accordingly.
- Ensure delivery aligns with risk, compliance, controls, and cybersecurity expectations—especially for LLM safety, privacy, and sensitive data handling.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Product Owner (or equivalent product leadership role) with strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
- Strong knowledge of the product development lifecycle: discovery, requirements, prioritisation, delivery, launch, and adoption/engagement measurement.
- Deep understanding of Generative AI concepts and delivery considerations, including prompt engineering, LLM capabilities/limitations, model safety, and evaluation approaches.
- Experience supporting large-scale transformation using analytics and/or AI/ML technologies in complex organisations.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to operate with moderate-to-low direction and make progress in ambiguous environments.
- Comfort working in fast-changing technical and risk contexts; able to adapt plans quickly without losing control of outcomes.
- Working understanding of risk, compliance, and controls and how they shape product design and delivery in a bank.
- Awareness of cybersecurity and data privacy threats relevant to LLM solutions, and ability to embed appropriate safeguards.
