Zillow Group is a strategic, mission-driven organization focused on delivering exceptional experiences and measurable outcomes. Our work spans cross-functional partnership, scalable programs and operational excellence in support of Zillow’s mission. We bring deep experience working across diverse teams in a dynamic, high-growth environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution to drive meaningful business impact. We are seeking an experienced professional to support our workforce expansion in India.
You are a key contributor to the team, leading the way on the most important integration and application initiatives, designs, and operational events across Workday and the broader enterprise ecosystem. You habitually design effective architectures, deliver critical bodies of code and integration, and shepherd the quality of the team's outputs. You are an expert on your team's systems and business domain, and you understand how they fit into the larger cross-team architecture. You contribute to projects that cut across teams and domains, and you are relied upon to resolve critical operational incidents, meet essential deadlines, and propose effective designs.
Responsibilities
Serve as the technical lead for complex integration and application work across Workday, Gem, BrightHire, ServiceNow, AD/Okta, payroll and benefits vendors, and internal platforms; define the reusable patterns and set standards for the team
Build complex integrations, services & applications using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and REST/SOAP/GraphQL APIs, and architect Extend applications (custom objects, validations, orchestration-backed workflows)
Act as an expert in multiple subdomains owned by your team; influence and shape team architecture, working closely with Principal and other senior Engineers, and treat testability, resiliency, and observability as first-order concerns
Design and own MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and connectors that expose Workday capabilities to AI agents and internal tooling; treat the AI-enablement layer as first-class platform work
Establish how the team uses and adopts AI-assisted IDEs and coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot); raise delivery speed and code quality across the team/org, not just your own output
Set the standard for observability across the integration estate (dashboards, metrics, alerts, and runbooks); resolve complex, high-severity production issues at the root cause and drive measurable improvements in platform health and reliability
Act as a focal point for projects: coordinating deliverables, writing designs, ensuring accurate estimates, and reviewing artifacts
Mentor engineers, improving their craft and integrating them into team culture and process
Communicate consistently with technical and non-technical staff, documenting decisions and the rationale behind build/buy and design tradeoffs
5-8+ years of software or application engineering experience, with significant time spent on platform or enterprise systems
4+ years of hands-on Workday development across integrations (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors), Extend, Orchestration, and RaaS/WQL
3+ years writing production code in JavaScript, Java, Python, or Go, with strong SQL or equivalent querying experience
Highly skilled in building with REST/SOAP and GraphQL, and in data transformation patterns (XML, XSLT, JSON)
Demonstrated ownership of integration architecture, including event-driven patterns, API gateway patterns, and fault-tolerant design
Deep understanding of the Workday data model and security fundamentals (domains, segments, business processes)
Uses AI-assisted development as a standard part of the daily workflow and sets the bar for the team
Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field (B.E./B.Tech/MCA), or equivalent practical experience
Experience designing MCP servers or API-layer connectors for AI tooling
Experience with an iPaaS platform such as MuleSoft or Workato
Workday Integration or Extend certification
