WSP Africa is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Project Planner to join our growing Power & Energy Project Management Office (PMO).
This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, substations, and infrastructure projects supporting South African and international clients. Drawing on project controls and planning capabilities commonly used across major capital projects, the role focuses on planning, scheduling, reporting, and schedule performance management
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Establish project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and schedule baselines.
- Monitor project progress and performance against approved schedules.
- Conduct critical path and schedule risk analysis.
- Prepare progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, and schedule updates.
- Support project managers with forecasting, planning, and project controls reporting.
- Coordinate planning activities across multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Assess schedule impacts arising from project changes, risks, and delays.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of complex power and energy projects.
What You'll Bring
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in project planning, scheduling, or project controls.
- Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 and project scheduling methodologies.
- Experience on engineering, infrastructure, energy, utilities, EPCM, or construction projects.
- Strong reporting, analytical, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management software.
Advantageous
- Advanced Primavera P6 certification or training.
- Earned Value Management (EVM) experience.
- Power & Energy sector experience.
- Transmission, distribution, substations, renewable energy, or power generation project experience.
- Power BI and project controls reporting experience.
