Role Overview
The Manager – Finance Automation & Systems Support, Balance Sheet Substantiation is responsible for leading technology-enabled process transformation, automation, reporting solutions, and systems support initiatives. The role requires strong expertise in enterprise applications, workflow automation and process optimization, with the ability to design, develop, and implement scalable solutions that enhance operational efficiency, governance, and reporting capabilities. The individual will partner with Finance, Technology, and project teams to translate business requirements into practical process and system improvements, while ensuring solutions remain compliant, sustainable, and aligned with operational needs.
Key Accountabilities
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency through practical automation, standardization, and reporting enhancements.
- Use Excel, Power Query, VBA, Power BI, Power Automate, Python or similar tools to support data preparation, validation, workflow improvement, and management reporting, where applicable.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, document current processes, identify gaps, and support implementation of process improvements.
- Work with Technology, project, vendor, and onshore teams to support system enhancements, automation initiatives, testing, and successful transition to BAU.
- Assist with requirements gathering, gap analysis, user acceptance testing, issue resolution, and preparation of BRDs, FSDs, CRP, UAT documentation, process maps, and user guides.
- Support Oracle ARCS operational activities, reporting, administration coordination, and process improvement initiatives, with escalation of technical issues to appropriate support teams.
- Apply awareness of analytics, automation, and emerging AI-enabled tools to identify practical finance use cases, while working with specialist teams for solution design and deployment as needed.
- Perform testing, validation, documentation, and change management activities to ensure automation and reporting solutions comply with internal controls, governance, and audit requirements.
- Monitor existing tools, reports, workflows, and operational processes; troubleshoot basic issues and coordinate with technical teams for complex support requirements.
- Facilitate process control improvements, support BAU stability, meet SLA requirements, and maintain strong Balanced Scorecard outcomes.
- Escalate issues timely to line manager and ensure completion of applicable GAO Control Hub requirements.
- Support Balance Sheet Substantiation activities, including reconciliations, reporting, issue tracking, controls, and process governance.
Process Re-Engineering, Automation and Change Management
- Partner with GPO, Finance, and Technology teams to support process re-engineering, automation, and change management initiatives.
- Support implementation of GAO process improvements and accounting technology changes, including roll-outs, new entity set-ups, restructures, conversions, and reporting enhancements.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to help deliver Balance Sheet Substantiation projects and ensure smooth adoption into BAU.
Qualifications & Experience
- BE / B.Tech/B. Com with IT/Computer science/specialization.
- 5–10 years of experience in technology, automation, and data analytics, with proficiency in Power Platform, Python, Alteryx, VBA, Tableau, and enterprise systems. Knowledge of Finance Operations is preferred to support process transformation.
- Practical exposure to Excel, Power Query, VBA, Power BI, Power Automate, Tableau, Python, Alteryx, Oracle ARCS, or similar tools is preferred; deep coding expertise is not mandatory.
- Awareness of data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools, with ability to identify finance use cases and partner with technical teams for implementation.
- Understanding of Oracle Financials, sub-ledger accounting, reconciliations, ERP data flows, and financial control environments will be an advantage.
Skills required
- Strong expertise in process automation, system integration, and control frameworks, with the ability to understand end-to-end business processes.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data validation, workbook controls, and basic automation concepts.
- Working knowledge of reporting, analytics, and automation tools such as Power BI, Power Query, VBA, Power Automate, Tableau, Alteryx, Spotfire, Cognos, or similar platforms.
- Conceptual understanding of Oracle ARCS, Oracle Financials, Hyperion Essbase, ERP systems, data flows, and finance system interfaces.
- Basic understanding of SQL, Python, Power Apps, Power Automate, or M Language is an advantage, but the role does not require advanced programming or full-stack development expertise.
- Awareness of analytics, automation, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI concepts, with focus on identifying practical and controlled finance use cases rather than building complex AI solutions independently.
- Ability to evaluate finance workflows, identify automation opportunities, document requirements, support testing, and coordinate with technical teams for delivery.
- Good understanding of workflow management, data migration, system integration concepts, and change management practices.
- Project coordination and stakeholder management skills; PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
- Strong logical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
