As a Principal Quality Engineer  – Level 3, your role at Redondo Beach, CA will be pivotal in supporting missions critical to national and global security. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials products. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:

• Lead and initiate Defect Reports or Non-conformance Material Review to ensure non-conforming materials are properly quarantined, controlled, and dispositioned.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure documentation of proper technical and logical reasoning and justification when resolving quality issues and overseeing change control.
• Lead process improvement, corrective actions and preventive efforts to minimize re-occurrence of non-conformances. 
• Lead/participate in specific programs and projects to provide solutions to technical issues.
• Audits manufacturing processes to ensure they meet Product Specification Requirements and Process Parameters.
• Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.   

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance

• 3 years of engineering experience in a quality, R&D, and/or manufacturing environment

 Preferred Qualifications:  

• Bachelor of Science degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Experience working with machined parts, composites, and assembly in a Spacecraft Final Integration environment
• Experience using Solumina, Cape, and Maufacturo
• Certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
• Current and active DOD/SSBI security clearance

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
