Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer – Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
As a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building and sustaining the development, operations and security posture of classified systems and networks used for development, integration, test, training, and operations. The selected candidate will concentrate on cybersecurity best practices within different layers of the OSI model including physical, data link, network, transport, and application. They will also support the delivery of products and services to the government customers through secure and encrypted channels.
Essential Functions:
- Installation and configuration of cyber monitoring equipment, troubleshooting, networking design, and implementing security measures for the networking infrastructure
- Documentation and verification of all installation and configuration steps
- Working with software developers and/or vendors as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during system integration
- Providing redlines to engineers and feedback to Leadership will be required as part of this position’s responsibilities.
- Documenting lessons learned, best security engineering practices, and industry standards will be required in daily tasks as well.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related work experience, or 1 year of related work experience with a PhD.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope US Government issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
- Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
- Must have the ability to obtain SDA Mandated Training (Cyber Awareness Training, etc.)
- Programming and scripting experience in a Windows environment (PowerShell, etc.)
- Experience with Two-Factor Authentication and Administration
- Strong systems administrator experience, specifically in Windows/Linux Operating Systems environments
- Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
- Ability to support after hours, on-call, on weekends, and immediate travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred candidate will be familiar with Tenable and Nessus scans for vulnerability and controls implementation.
- Experience with VMware and ESXi configuration and management experience
- Experience in VMWare, NetApp and Splunk among other industry standard technologies. Comfortable with maintenance and OS upgrades
- Experience in Network Management Systems (HP Network Node Manager, Solarwinds, and NAS/SAN technologies (NetApp, etc.)
- Experience administering, deploying, configuring, and maintaining Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator or Endpoint Security solutions
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
- Hands on experience with Ansible and/or Powershell scripting
- Familiarization with Hypervisor operation to support Virtual Machines.
- Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
- Experience with InControl
- Experience with FreeFlyer
- Experience with Veeam
- Familiarity with ticketing system (JIRA)
Primary Level Salary Range: $119,600.00 - $179,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
