An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Global Markets Associate to join a highly respected financial institution in Hong Kong, supporting the HK Blue Chip and Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) sector portfolio. What you'll do:

As a Global Markets Associate, you will play an integral role in supporting the sales activities of the HK Blue Chip and NBFI sector portfolio. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve promoting a wide array of market-related products while independently executing complex trades with precision. You will be expected to provide valuable assistance to senior team members during high-level pitches by preparing insightful materials and contributing fresh perspectives. Staying attuned to market trends will enable you to sustain strong client relationships, while your commitment to compliance ensures that all activities are conducted ethically. By collaborating with regional teams, you will help expand the organisation’s global reach. Your involvement in management reporting and special projects will further contribute to the overall success of the team.

• Support sales business activities within Global Markets by assisting the HK Blue Chip and NBFI sector portfolio in achieving key performance indicators and budgetary targets through effective teamwork.
• Promote a diverse range of market-related products including foreign exchange, FX derivatives, interest rate derivatives, and securities products to activate customer business and foster long-term relationships.
• Independently execute flow trades involving FX, FX derivatives, and interest rate derivatives for the HK Blue Chip and NBFI sectors, ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of smooth trade execution by meticulously preparing pre- and post-trade documentation and diligently following up on all transactions.
• Provide essential support to senior colleagues such as Vice Presidents or Directors during complex solution pitches by preparing marketing materials, simulating market scenarios, and sharing innovative ideas within the team.
• Stay informed about market data movements and client activities to maintain robust client relations and proactively identify new business opportunities.
• Uphold full compliance with prevailing regulations by exemplifying ethical behaviour and adhering strictly to all internal controls established for the team.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in other regions to enhance the organisation’s business network and capture additional global business flows through shared knowledge.
• Take responsibility for management information reporting requirements and actively participate in ad hoc projects or assignments as needed to support broader team objectives.

What you bring:

To excel as a Global Markets Associate, your background should reflect substantial experience within banking or global markets environments where you have demonstrated proficiency in sales functions. Your academic achievements—ideally complemented by professional certifications such as FRM or CFA—will underpin your technical expertise. Regulatory awareness is vital; therefore holding appropriate licences is mandatory. Your ability to communicate complex ideas simply will set you apart when engaging clients or supporting senior colleagues. A collaborative spirit coupled with meticulous attention to detail ensures that you can manage multiple priorities efficiently while contributing positively to team dynamics. Familiarity with Bloomberg systems alongside advanced Microsoft Office skills will streamline your workflow. Multilingual abilities further enhance your capacity to build rapport across various client segments.

• A university degree in banking, finance or a related discipline provides you with a solid academic foundation for this role.
• Possession of FRM or CFA qualifications would be considered advantageous for demonstrating advanced industry knowledge.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in banking or global markets, particularly with hands-on sales experience, equips you for success in this position.
• Holding HKMA Type 1 & 4 licences is essential for meeting regulatory requirements within Hong Kong’s financial sector.
• A thorough understanding of industry trends, product offerings, relevant laws, and regulations enables you to navigate complex market environments confidently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills allow you to convey intricate concepts clearly and intuitively to clients and colleagues alike.
• Exceptional teamwork abilities are crucial for fostering positive relationships within the group while maintaining great attention to detail across multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in Bloomberg terminals as well as Microsoft Office applications ensures efficient handling of daily operations and reporting duties.
• A mature approach combined with proactive problem-solving skills empowers you to work both collaboratively within teams and independently when required.
• Strong organisational capabilities paired with fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin facilitate seamless communication across diverse stakeholders.
