Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) molecules located in Lebanon, IN. This facility is Lilly’s largest investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to provide APIs for current and future products, including new modalities. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the processes and facility to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations.
Position Description:
The Reliability Engineer will work as a member of the Maintenance team at LP1 and is accountable for the equipment reliability and maintenance strategy of the site’s LP1 production equipment. This is achieved by the continuous monitoring of equipment operational performance and while identifying and taking action on /implementing action needed for areas of improvement. These improvement actions will be a combination of installation set-up, utilization, and maintenance servicing including spare parts, Job Plan/Preventive Maintenance (PM), and work standardization., etc. Deep understanding of the manufacturing equipment, its processes, and the impact of the processes on the equipment are key to the success of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, track and maintain reliability metrics such as, but not limited to, Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), downtime, costs, emergency work orders, obsolete parts, Events, etc.
Provide field support to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues. Support may be required outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Assess/identify opportunities to improve the equipment reliability, recommend solutions, and manage implementation. These opportunities will be a combination of, but not limited to, equipment installation, equipment set-up instructions, operation/utilization of the equipment, maintenance procedures, maintenance servicing issues, spare parts, reducing MTTR, etc.
Develop, implement, and maintain equipment maintenance strategies to optimize its safe operation, HSE & cGMP compliance (Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) & Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), cost, and efficiency/effectiveness of LP1 assets.
Perform Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) and remediation plan related to because of, but not limited to, Events, abnormal condition during PM, late maintenance activities, costs, etc.
Provide engineering support for change controls, Event investigations, and other relevant activities.
Perform Continuous Improvement of maintenance instructions (JP’s) for accuracy, efficiency, and in support of compliance with applicable regulations.
Perform Continuous Improvement of our assets spare parts list (ASL’s) for accuracy.
Serve as the technical expert and site mentor in the proper use of the Maximo CMMS system for developing the maintenance strategies, maintenance execution, and for documenting equipment history.
Collaborate with Process Engineering team for design, selection, construction/installation to improve reliability and maintainability of new or modified equipment in order to improve reliability and maintainability.
Collaborate with Process Engineering in the equipment classification process, defining Maximo Location hierarchy, populating asset information, developing Return-to-Service instructions, and acquisition of equipment manuals.
Effectively communicate with key internal stakeholders and support cross-functional groups regarding equipment reliability, maintenance activities, and improvement efforts.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
3+ years of experience in reliability engineering.

Additional Preferences:
Prior experience in Pharmaceutical or Chemical manufacturing.
Experience working in a cGMP/regulated environment.
RMIC – Reliability & Maintainability Implementation Certification or CMRP – Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional.
Maximo CMMS experience.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$66,000 - $171,600Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
