Senior HR Advisor
Majnoon Oil Field, Basrah, Iraq
Position Summary:
The Senior HR Advisor serves as the primary HR Business Partner for assigned IFMS departments, providing end-to-end HR coverage across the full employee lifecycle — from mobilization to demobilization. The role bridges HR advisory with hands-on operational delivery, ensuring KBR policies, Iraqi Labor Law obligations, and client contractual requirements are met consistently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and line managers across assigned IFMS departments, providing day-to-day generalist advisory and query resolution from the HR office
- Deliver structured HR induction for all newly onboarded employees: policy briefings, site orientation, Workday self-service walkthrough, and HR office introduction, ensuring every new joiner is fully set up and informed from day one
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records for all active employees, ensuring contractual changes, position amendments, and entitlement updates are documented and filed without delay
- Administer attendance records, leave requests, and timesheet data for the assigned workforce; validate anomalies and coordinate corrections with line managers and the KBR payroll team within cut-off deadlines
- Track contract expiry dates and renewal timelines
- Support employees throughout their tenure by providing consistent, accessible HR guidance on policies, entitlements, conduct standards, and workplace procedures
- Support the annual and mid-year performance management cycle: communicate the process and timelines to employees and managers, track completion and assist line managers with appraisal documentation and fair assessment guidance
- Assist line managers in preparing and monitoring performance improvement plans, documenting coaching conversations, and tracking outcomes in line with applicable policy
- Conduct probationary review follow-ups: prompt line managers ahead of review dates, document outcomes, and issue confirmation or extension letters within the required timeframe
- Manage employee relations casework end-to-end: initial query, fact-finding, disciplinary or grievance hearing, outcome documentation, and case closure in accordance with applicable policy and Iraqi Labor Law
- Handle first-line ER issues through informal resolution, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the HR Manager with full supporting documentation
- Maintain a visible, approachable HR presence through regular engagement with employees and managers, proactively identifying workforce concerns before they escalate
- Support the HR Manager in preparing regulatory submissions, labor inspection evidence, and client HR audit documentation
- Act as the on-site liaison between the IFMS workforce and the KBR Abu Dhabi HR team for all medical insurance matters: channeling employee queries, coordinating enrolment and deletion requests, and escalating claim issues to the Abu Dhabi office on behalf of the employee
- Ensure employees are informed of their medical insurance coverage, provider network, and claims process from day one of onboarding, and provide practical guidance throughout their tenure
- Track and follow up on open insurance cases, maintaining a clear log of pending submissions and resolutions to ensure no employee query falls through the gap between site and the Abu Dhabi team.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential
- Minimum 8 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist advisory role in the Oil & Gas or Energy sector
- Proven experience working in a remote or field-based oil & gas environment — Iraq, Middle East, or comparable frontier environment strongly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in Workday HCM
- Sound knowledge of Iraqi Labor Law and employment compliance obligations
- Track record of managing employee relations casework independently, including disciplinary, grievance, and investigation processes
- Experience managing expatriate workforce logistics: rotation schedules, mobilization and demobilization workflows
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Preferred
- CIPD Level 3 or above, SHRM-CP/SCP, or equivalent professional HR qualification
- Experience in HR reporting and audit requirements
