We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President – Data Quality.
In this role, you will:
- Data quality monitoring and control reporting: Own data quality governance framework, establish and monitor Data Quality rules, thresholds, Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators, drive timely identification, investigation, remediation and closure of Data Quality issue, ensure root cause analysis and sustainable remediation rather than recurring tactical fixes, provide senior management with transparent reporting of material Data Quality risks and trends.
- User access governance, User Interface recertification and business assurance, establish governance over periodic UI recertification, Track recertification outcomes, exceptions and remediation actions, ensure evidence is maintained to demonstrate appropriate business sign-off and control effectiveness.
- User Acceptance Testing and change Governance: Provide Test Cases and User Acceptance Testing framework and partner with senior leaders to sign off the mapping, data-outputs and reporting views, Review and validate test cases, perform data validation during User Acceptance Testing cycles. Track and manage defects, signoffs, Ensure smooth transition into Business as Usual.
- Typical Targets and Measures: Key Market Intelligence and procedures in place to manage operational risk, Zero high risk and repeat errors and audit points against the team. Understanding the complexity of the Markets and Securities Services asset class landscape, technical ability to create Market intelligence using Structured Query Language (SQL) / Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) / Excel that satisfies all stakeholders requirements.
- Attention to detail, validating large sets of data for accuracy, identifying errors and rectifying them quickly under tight timelines. Ability to learn quickly. Understanding the product and processes, controls and risks. Having an analytical / change mindset, challenging the status quo, pushing the boundaries and continually evaluating the why.
- Be able to communicate at all levels, building partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders. Ongoing awareness of the operational processing functions and aid if required. Help maintain a low operating risk model and that appropriate escalation is always followed. Proactively manage your own development; produce, maintain, and implement your own personal development plan, ensuring you take advantage of the tools available.
- Identify specific training requirements and participate in HSBC Business School programs to help support your development alongside feedback from your Line Manager. Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business. Ensure adherence to Conduct policy and procedures – to be shared with candidate.
- Understand the measures of success for both the Business Intelligence function and the business/products that are supported. Ensure appropriate prioritization is achieved when reviewing new initiatives. Take ownership of delivery and ensure impact of new initiatives is understood. Ensure that Service Level Agreements and Project timelines are not breached, and that the process and initiatives are managed within the quality metrics identified.
To be successful, you will:
- Bachelor’s or master’s Degree preferred in technology space or specialization.
- 7+ years of overall experience and minimum 5+ years in Data Quality, Access Management, User Acceptance Testing, Data Analytics.
- Competent self-starter, articulate communicator, diligent and attention to detail focused. Strong organizational skills – ability to work under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
- Show initiative, a positive attitude, and lead by example. Good communication skills, both verbally and written. Must have experience of dealing with very large data volumes.
- Highly effective in influencing and negotiation. Knowledge of the Markets Business preferred.
- Highly competent/advanced in Microsoft applications Excel, PowerPoint (PPT). Advanced PowerPoint (PPT) skills – turning low-level detail into management friendly summaries. Experience in Qlik Sense dashboard.
- Experienced in turning large low-level data sets into highly effective management friendly summaries. Advanced Excel skills – crunching large sets of analysis and testing them against reference data tables.
- Has knowledge working on Market Intelligence/reporting digital tooling is desirable. Familiarity with defect tracking / User Acceptance Testing tools (e.g. JIRA).
