Role Purpose
A senior risk and control role supporting the oversight and execution of the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) framework for Funds Administration, Middle-Office, Transfer Agency and Trustee within Securities Services. The role operates within the 1LoD, partnering closely with the Securities Services NFR & COO organisation, Risk & Control Owners, and Risk Stewards to help embed effective risk management across business, operations and technology.
Key elements of the role include:
- Support delivery of the SSv Funds Administration, Middle-Office, Transfer Agency and Trustee NFR agenda, working with senior stakeholders to ensure risks are identified, assessed, controlled and monitored.
- Provide subject matter oversight and constructive challenge on end-to-end processes (Business, Operations & Technology), with a focus on preventing risks from materialising into issues.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders by coordinating, advising and challenging on risk and control activities, including regulatory and audit-related engagements.
- Ensure NFR requirements are embedded into product development and change delivery (initiation through implementation), including control design, testing evidence, go-live readiness and post-implementation assurance (e.g., digital capabilities and resilience risk).
- Partner with Product, Technology and Operations to support control simplification and automation, improving control effectiveness, customer outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Execute activities in line with the Group Risk Management Framework (RMF), supporting work across:
- RMF Policy & Assurance – interpreting RMF requirements and supporting adherence monitoring;
- FIM Policy – supporting cascade and adoption of relevant policy changes;
- Governance & Reporting – producing fit-for-purpose governance, MI and ad-hoc reporting;
- Risk appetite monitoring – supporting definition, calibration and ongoing monitoring;
- Assurance & Monitoring – supporting delivery of risk-based assurance (OKR/KPI/KRI monitoring and thematic reviews);
- Incident/Issue Management – supporting identification, escalation and remediation of incidents/issues and tracking of actions;
- Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) – supporting timely updates to Product RCA based on relevant risk triggers.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead & Deliver
- Develop and manage effective working relationships across SSv, Technology, Operations and supporting functions.
- Support the SSv NFR leadership team in delivering the broader risk management agenda, including prioritisation, coordination and execution of key deliverables.
- Provide commercially grounded input on risks, services and processes against agreed internal standards/risk appetite and external expectations.
- Role model strong risk behaviours including speak-up, timely escalation, and high-quality, evidence-based outcomes.
- Contribute to team capability through knowledge sharing, coaching of junior colleagues (where relevant), and disciplined ownership of assigned outcomes.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Support NFR and SSv management in ensuring appropriate risk and control structures are in place and that identified risks are actively managed.
- Deliver succinct, high-quality communication of risk matters across SSv, Markets & Securities Services (MSS), Global Functions and other relevant areas.
- Contribute to internal/external benchmarking and lessons learned, where appropriate, to improve the control environment.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Support execution of the Risk Management Framework across Funds Administration, Middle-Office, Transfer Agency and Trustee.
- Coordinate and contribute to key Risk & Control governance forums/committees, ensuring materials are accurate, insightful and action-oriented (rather than “reporting for reporting’s sake”).
- Assist with monitoring of the business risk profile, ensuring issues, thematic trends and emerging risks are captured, understood, and progressed to clear actions and/or risk acceptance decisions.
- Support implementation and embedding of relevant policies, procedures and control standards in a practical, commercially sensitive manner.
- Help minimise disruption risks by supporting resilience and control effectiveness so the business can meet expectations of customers, counterparties, regulators and other stakeholders.
Risk & Control Outcomes (what “good” looks like)
- Improved quality and timeliness of RCA updates, issue triage and governance MI for the remit area.
- Timely progress and closure of remediation actions, with strong evidence packs and sustainable fixes (not temporary patches).
- Reduction in repeat incidents through better root-cause analysis and preventative controls.
- Clearer, more actionable risk appetite monitoring (OKR/KRI/KPI), with defined thresholds and ownership across stakeholders.
- Evidence that risk is embedded into change delivery, with fewer late-stage control gaps.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Strong understanding of the Securities Services product set for Funds Administration, Middle-Office, Transfer Agency and Trustee (or equivalent), including front-to-back design and execution; broader SSv industry knowledge is an advantage.
- Proven experience in Business Management, Audit, Risk and/or Control roles within a global financial institution, operating across multiple stakeholders and functions.

- Data-driven mindset with ability to analyse trends and convert them into practical actions.

- Strong problem solving and prioritisation; able to manage multiple deliverables under pressure with attention to detail.
- Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently while staying tightly aligned to team priorities.
- Commercial awareness and practical judgement (knowing when to be rigorous and when to be pragmatic).
- “Roll-up-the-sleeves” mindset to deliver outcomes at pace.
