As a professional in our Portfolio Valuations practice, you’ll work alongside experienced specialists to analyze illiquid and complex instruments, translate market and portfolio dynamics into defensible conclusions, and deliver audit-ready, decision-useful insights for stakeholders.
Work you’ll do
As a Senior Manager on the portfolio valuation team, you will be responsible for:
- Leading independent valuation analyses for illiquid assets and complex financial instruments, with a focus on corporate credit, term loans, private debt, private equity, alternative investments and structured and securitized products
- Building, reviewing, and refining cash flow and valuation models, including assumptions, limitations, and sensitivity analyses
- Preparing audit-ready valuation documentation and supporting financial reporting valuation needs for derivatives, debt instruments, and employee stock option plans
- Conducting credit and portfolio analysis, validating third-party manager reports and underlying data, and advising clients on valuation implications for regulatory, compliance, and stakeholder needs
- Leading day-to-day engagement execution by collaborating with audit and client stakeholders, communicating technical findings clearly, and coaching junior team members across multiple concurrent projects
- Lead and develop junior staff
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities within existing and prospective client accounts
- Lead proposal development, solution design, and client presentations

The team
Our Valuation & Modeling team provides financial modeling for business planning, transactions, and operational improvements. We conduct valuation for tax purposes, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), litigation, bankruptcy, and risk management. Additionally, we support audit processes with fair value measurements.
Deloitte’s portfolio valuation services undertakes debt valuations for some of the largest global asset managers and financial institutions, advising clients on either standalone transactions or on a periodic basis. As part of our debt valuation work, the team values private debt, structured products, loan portfolios (corporate, residential mortgage, credit card), commercial real estate (CRE) debt and assets, residential mortgage pools, stressed and distressed assets, intercompany trades, and private equity, among other asset classes.
Globally, Deloitte assesses valuations for 26% of the top 50 global asset managers and serves nearly 50% of the top 50 real estate companies by revenue.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or equivalent
- 10+ years of valuation, portfolio analysis, or related financial advisory experience, including substantial experience in valuing illiquid assets and complex financial instruments
- 7+ years of experience performing portfolio valuation analyses for illiquid investments and complex financial instruments, including debt, equity, and structured securities
- 7+ years of experience performing credit analysis, portfolio analysis, or similar investment analysis, including assessment of company performance, capital structure, market pricing, and credit risk
- In-depth understanding of generally accepted valuation approaches, primarily income and market approaches, as applied to illiquid assets and complex financial instruments
- Employment of various valuation methodologies such as discounted cash flow, market yield analysis, spread-based discounting, comparable market pricing, scenario and sensitivity analysis, recovery analysis, and other methods relevant to private debt, corporate credit, structured securities, and alternative investments
- Development, review, and oversight of financial models used to value loans, corporate credit, private debt, structured products, equity securities, and other illiquid investments
- Conducting in-depth company, portfolio, industry, and market research, including financial statement, capital structure, and credit analysis
- Have knowledge of applicable professional standards, industry best practices, and relevant U.S. GAAP fair value reporting requirements applicable to portfolio valuations and complex financial instruments
- Preparation and review of valuation reports, memoranda, workpapers, and other client deliverables, including support for audit review and stakeholder challenge
- Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Finance
- Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
- Experience valuing or pricing illiquid and complex financial instruments, including structured or securitized products, private credit, or alternative investments
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $184,100 to $306,800.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
