Key Responsibilities
BMS Operations & Reliability
- Responsible for BMS monitoring and operational health, ensuring system avaiability and performance across regional data center portfolio.
- Act as technical subject matter expert for internal and customer driven root cause analyses, BMS faults and recurring alarms; while driving corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Establish and maintain standardised operational procedures for alarm management, escalation paths, and reporting across the regional portfolio.
- Own and manage retrofit and upgrade projects.
Maintenance Planning & Asset Performance
- Develop templates and assist site teams on the BMS maintenance programs (preventive, corrective, and predictive where applicable).
- Align regional BMS asset lifecycle plans and ensure timely upgrades to maintain cybersecurity and performance.
- Develop and maintain checklists and policies that validate handover documentation (as-builts, point lists, sequences of operation, and controller/network diagrams).
Technical Governance & Standardization
- Enforce regional standards for:
- BMS architecture and integrations
- Naming conventions for points and alarms
- Control logic and sequences of operation
- Cybersecurity best practices
- Software/firmware version control
- Ensure compliance with project and operational documentation standards across vendors and internal teams.
- Validate control strategies and oversee retro-commissioning efforts as needed.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Act as SME as required on vendor proposals, SOWs, and change requests for scope clarity, quality, and cost control.
- Conduct QA/QC on deliverables: programming changes, documentation updates, commissioning results, and closeout packages.
- Own vendor escalation and ensure SLAs are met.
Reporting, Budget, and KPIs
- Own regional KPIs such as:
- Alarm reduction / responsiveness
- Preventive maintenance completion rate
- Mean time to respond (MTTR) and resolve (MTTR/MTTR) where used
- System uptime
- Cost of repairs and warranty utilization
- Energy/operational optimization outcomes (if applicable)
- Provide regular operational reporting to leadership
Team Leadership & Training
- Lead and mentor regional BMS operations staff and/or technicians.
- Drive training and competency development on core platforms, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
- Ensure consistent adoption of operating procedures and best practices across sites.
Safety, Compliance, and Cybersecurity
- Support compliance with applicable codes/regulations and internal standards.
- Promote safety and cybersecurity best practices at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in BMS operations, commissioning, or building automation/controls.
- 3+ years in a supervisory, lead, or manager role managing multiple sites or portfolios.
- Demonstrated experience with fault diagnostics and control optimization.
- Proficiency with at least one major BMS platform (examples):
- Siemens Desigo Insight / Apogee / CP
- Schneider Electric EcoStruxure (or equivalent)
- Tridium Niagara (where applicable)
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC controls, sequences of operation, and integration of sensors/actuators.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Points lists
- Ladder logic or control narratives (or equivalent logic documentation)
- Network diagrams and controller configurations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting energy optimization / demand control initiatives (where applicable).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks relevant to building automation.
- Experience managing complex vendor relationships and multiple service contracts.
- Knowledge of BAS/BMS integration with:
- Lighting controls
- VAV/RTU systems
- Metering systems
- EMS/IoT platforms
