Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Data Technology team. The team builds and supports services and platforms that provide reliable research and reference data across the firm, enabling trading, risk, operations, and analytics.
You will design, build, test, deploy, and support production software while working closely with engineering teams, business stakeholders, and users to solve data and workflow problems.
Our stack includes Rust, Python, and .NET/C#, along with cloud, messaging, and SQL/NoSQL technologies. You do not need experience in every area but should have strong engineering fundamentals and be comfortable in a modern, service-oriented environment.
This is a mid-level role for an engineer who can independently deliver well-scoped work, contribute to technical discussions and code reviews, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Responsibilities
• Build, test, deploy, and maintain services and data applications supporting the firm’s research and reference-data ecosystem.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable software solutions.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of distributed systems, data models, and integrations.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Investigate production issues, provide second-line support, and deliver durable fixes.
• Balance delivery speed with sound technical design, resilience, and risk management.
• Develop an understanding of the business domain and how data is used across the firm
Qualifications
• 3 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python experience.
• Familiarity with at least one compiled language; C#/.NET or Rust is preferred.
• Solid understanding of software design, testing, and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience building backend or service-oriented applications, including REST APIs and real-time data integrations.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, including concurrency, reliability, observability, and failure handling.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling; exposure to SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Familiarity with a major cloud platform and modern development practices, including Git, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
• Front-end experience with React, Angular, or a similar framework.
• Experience integrating machine learning or AI into production systems.
• Familiarity with financial markets, data providers such as Bloomberg, or trading and operational workflows.
• Experience with messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka, Solace, or MQ.
Even if your experience doesn’t match every requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—if you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply!
