Cluster Operations Manager, Data Center Operations (DCO)

AWS is investing €33.7 billion in Aragón, Spain — one of the largest infrastructure investments in the region's history. As a DCO Cluster Manager, you'll lead the build-out and operation of our compute operations teams in this rapidly growing region.

This is a senior leadership role where you'll own safety, security, availability, scaling, costs, and efficiency across a 24/7 operation. You'll lead the team responsible for installing, maintaining, and decommissioning network and server equipment — but your primary focus is people. You'll build and grow a high-performing organization of managers and technicians from the ground up, shaping a culture of operational excellence as the region scales.

Previous data center experience is not required. What matters most is proven people leadership — specifically, experience managing managers and developing teams through periods of rapid growth. If you've led large, complex operations and know how to inspire, scale, and develop leaders, this is an exceptional opportunity.

Key job responsibilities
- People Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a team of Data Center Managers and 100+ associates. Recruit talent, grow leaders, and foster a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
- Strategic Vision: Define and execute the operational strategy for the Aragón region, aligning with AWS global standards while adapting to local growth demands.
- Operational Excellence: Own all operational KPIs — drive process improvement, automation, and innovation to raise the bar on safety, availability, and efficiency.
- Scaling & Expansion: Plan and execute the operations component of new data center build-outs as the region grows, ensuring readiness from day one.
- Incident Leadership: Manage Large Scale Events and act as call leader, ensuring rapid resolution and clear communication.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work across AWS teams to share best practices globally and ensure the region benefits from — and contributes to — operational excellence worldwide.

AWS Infrastructure Services keeps the cloud running. We own the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure — the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling that give our customers continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in managing managers
- Experience hiring and developing strong talent and building a team
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Experience in complex problem solving, and working in a tight schedule environment
- Experience in procurement, budgeting, forecasting, or asset management

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in data center engineering or operations
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish
