AWS Global Sales Operations is the strategic operating function that provides insights, mechanisms, and objective recommendations enabling AWS Global Sales to scale, transform, and deliver long-term customer and business outcomes.
At AWS, we celebrate innovation, calculated risk-taking, and new ideas. We are builders who experiment, learn, simplify, and scale what works. It is still Day 1, and we are looking for curious, analytical, and action-oriented leaders to join our diverse teams of thinkers, problem solvers, and doers.
The Field Tech Operations Lead is the strategic advisor and operating partner to Area Tech Leader. You will translate EMEA Tech strategy and the area business priorities into executable plans, scalable mechanisms, and measurable customer outcomes across Solutions Architecture, Customer Solutions Management, and strategic initiatives. You will help the Area Tech organization operate with greater clarity, speed, and impact by embedding data, AI, and automation into how the business plans, inspects performance, prioritizes resources, and executes. You will build mechanisms that surface risks earlier, reduce manual work, improve decision quality, and ensure technical expertise is deployed where it creates the greatest customer and business value.
You will also own the area’s migration strategy and execution end to end, driving progress from opportunity identification through migration launch, modernization, and consumption realization with a large cross functional team across the Area.
This is a cross-functional, hands-on role that requires strong strategic judgment, analytical rigor, commercial awareness, and operational discipline. The ideal candidate can operate effectively in ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders, communicate across technical and non-technical audiences, and build scalable mechanisms that improve how the business operates.
Success in this role requires an owner mindset, strong bias for action, and the ability to turn complex business and technical priorities into clear operating plans that deliver measurable impact for customers and AWS.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Partnership: Advise Area Tech Leaders on strategy, organizational performance, risks, priorities, and investment decisions.
Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute the Tech operating plan, translating EMEA Tech strategy and Area business priorities into clear priorities, actions, and outcomes.
Business Performance: Establish KPIs, lead business reviews, and provide decision-oriented insights that improve performance, resource allocation, and execution.
Sales and Tech Alignment: Align technical priorities and capacity with the Area business plan and identify gaps requiring leadership action.
Migration and Modernization: Own the Area’s Migration and Modernization strategy and execution end to end, from opportunity identification and prioritization through migration, modernization, launch, and consumption realization.
Strategic Initiatives: Coordinate GenAI, customer adoption, and other Area Tech priorities, recommending when to scale, redesign, simplify, or stop.
Resource Planning: Provide data-backed recommendations on capacity, coverage, skills, and technical resource allocation.
Customer Adoption: Track customer progression from technical engagement to production adoption and business outcomes, distinguishing activity from measurable impact.
Area and EMEA Alignment: Act as the operational link between Area Tech leadership and EMEA Field Tech Operations, adopt common standards, escalate systemic blockers, and share scalable best practices.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Influence, build alignment, and drive execution across Sales, Business Development, Professional Services, Partners, Finance, technical teams, and Worldwide organizations.
A day in the life
You will lead the Area Tech AI-enabled rhythm of business and work closely with Area Tech leadership to identify where customer outcomes, technical capacity, or execution are off track. You will partner with Sales, Solutions Architects, Business Development, Professional Services, Partners, and other cross-functional teams to prioritize key customers, remove blockers, and agree the actions needed to improve Area performance and accelerate Migration, Modernization, and GenAI adoption.
The role moves regularly between strategic planning and hands-on execution. This may include developing decision-oriented insights for leadership, improving business review mechanisms, shaping resource allocation recommendations, or coordinating cross-functional initiatives across countries and teams.
You will also connect the Area with EMEA and Worldwide stakeholders, share best practices, escalate systemic issues, and ensure common strategies and operating standards translate into effective Area execution. Throughout the day, you will bring clarity to complex problems, align leaders around the right priorities, and turn strategy into actions that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.
