The Transit and Rail System Delivery and Growth Leader is responsible for leading the successful delivery of passenger rail programs and projects while driving strategic growth, market expansion, and client engagement. This leader will oversee complex assignments across the project lifecycle—design, technical delivery, construction delivery, and operational readiness. The role requires a strong blend of project delivery leadership, business development, client relationship management, and deep understanding of the passenger rail industry.
This executive-level position will play a pivotal role in building, leading, and managing the rail and transit discipline. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects and providing technical expertise in transit and rail systems.
This position may be based out of New York, NY - Los Angeles, CA - or Washington, DC.
Your Impact
- Collaboration with multi-discipline teams, overseeing a diverse range of projects, including large transit programs. These programs may encompass infrastructure-related initiatives, including new or rehabilitated tunnels, tracks, stations, signaling, and systems.
- Lead and oversee transit and rail systems projects, ensuring successful delivery and compliance with industry standards.
Drive market growth strategies for transit and rail systems services, including pursuit planning, capture strategy, client development, and key account growth.
Champion operational excellence, talent development, succession planning, and team engagement.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business development efforts in the rail and transit sector.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key clients, transit agencies, and stakeholders
- Mentor and manage project teams, ensuring high performance and professional development of staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with company goals.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in transit and rail systems.
- Take the lead in coordinating business development and client engagement activities, further enhancing our presence in the rail and transit sector.
- Leadership and Team Management: Provide strong leadership to the rail and transit discipline team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of rail and transit projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Collaborate with project managers to resolve any issues that may arise. Be responsible to scope, schedule, and budget of projects.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in transit and rail systems, staying abreast of industry trends, standards, and best practices.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years in transit and rail systems with a proven record in project management.
- Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in civil engineering, Systems Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field and have experience.
- Experience working with transit agencies and organizations at a national level.
- Ability to travel as needed for client meetings and project oversight.
Key Skills/Attributes:
- In-depth knowledge of multi-modal transportation design standards and regulations.
- Experience in business development and proposal preparation.
- Design Build, experience in working on projects with/for contractors is an advantage.
- The candidate will be able to demonstrate significant leadership capability, the ability to inspire multi-disciplinary (cross country) teams around a common purpose, drive change and navigate through resistance and maintain and cultivate client relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.

Compensation:
Expected Salary: $295,000 - $330,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
