Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
— Responsible for the Design of Mechanical services design of building services and associated systems of work.
— Leads and supervises the Mechanical Engineering team in implementing project objectives, plans and programs within the
department as directed by the management.
— Ensures that the project designs/studies from the clients are completed in accordance with acceptable prescribed standard
for each requesting party’s place/country of origin and its intent/content.
— Responsible for liaison with local supply authorities to gain approvals, when necessary.
— Manages and maintains the record of all incoming and outgoing drawings from the office in accordance with WSP QA
procedures.
— Liaises with WSP personnel and WSP’s partners both local and foreign affiliates and clients.
— Liaises and coordinates with other disciplines of the design team.
— Manages and controls outputs in accordance with the design work program.
— Attends meeting when required both local and overseas.
— Responsible for training and development of junior staff and Mechanical Engineering team.
— Creates regular reports on project status for management.
— At all times exhibit behaviour, consistent with that of a professional member of WSP.
— Keeps abreast of technical updates and advises management.
— Comply with all role specific to SHEQ obligations.
— Provide key technical expertise across a broad range of projects.
— Develop experience in managing small team.
— Contribute to building the technical capability of others and transferring technical expertise within the organization.
— Auditing of other more junior staff.
— Apply safety in design processes on projects.
— Prepare high level technical reports and review medium size project reports.
— Project Lead medium sized multi-discipline projects.
— Use of HVAC software and 3D modelling to develop mechanical system designs.
— Other duties as required by management from time to time.
Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable):
— Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.
— Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) is a plus.
Experience, skills and organisational knowledge
— At least 10 years of experience in a similar capacity
— Knowledge in Camel program or other HVAC load estimating software
— Design HVAC Systems
HVAC design engineers create heating and cooling systems and their controls.
— Calculate Heating and Cooling Needs
Make load calculations to determine how much heating and cooling power various equipment must put out in order to heat or cool spaces when needed.
— Interpret and Draft Plans
Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and blueprints for new construction projects. They also draft new plans
to design ductwork and piping systems.
— Calculate Ventilation Requirements
Calculate ventilation requirements based on the types of systems needed.
— Coordinate with Others
Coordinate and collaborate with architects and engineers when designing heating and cooling systems.
— Adhere to All Building Codes
Follow all building codes (and obtain proper building permits when necessary).
— AutoCAD and Revit experience is a plus
— Working knowledge of WSPs organizational capability and how to access it.
— Working knowledge of systems, procedures and practices.
— Working knowledge of organizational approach to risk management, ethics and safety.
— Experiences in applying QA and OH&S systems.
— Experience in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
