A Little More About Your Role
WSP Africa is growing its renewable energy and grid capability and is looking for a Graduate Electrical Engineer (Renewable Energy) to join our Power & Energy team in Midrand. This opportunity is suited to a pure graduate or an early-career electrical engineer with approximately 1 to 2 years’ experience and a strong interest in renewable energy, grid connection and electrical infrastructure.
This is a technical engineering support role focused on renewable energy and grid-related project work, documentation, report writing, engineering reviews and communication with project teams. It is not a tender office role.
Responsibilities
Assist with electrical engineering inputs for renewable energy and grid-related projects.
Support technical reviews, calculations, drawings, design documentation and project deliverables.
Contribute to renewable energy projects such as solar PV, wind, battery energy storage or related clean energy technologies.
Assist with grid connection, electrical infrastructure and power systems-related project work.
Prepare clear technical reports, design notes, review comments and client-facing documentation under guidance.
Support project teams with accurate, timely and well-structured engineering inputs.
Communicate effectively with senior engineers, project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
Develop technical capability through mentorship, project exposure and continuous professional development.

Role model SHEQ standards and behaviours consistent with WSP’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies.
Contribute to the identification of SHEQ risks and support processes aimed at achieving Zero Harm.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
BSc, BEng or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
Suitable for a pure graduate or an early-career engineer with approximately 1 to 2 years’ experience.
Exposure to renewable energy projects such as solar PV, wind, battery energy storage or related clean energy technologies will be advantageous.
Grid connection, electrical infrastructure, power systems or distribution/transmission exposure will be advantageous.
Strong interest in renewable energy, grid integration and electrical engineering project delivery.
Ability to support technical report writing, documentation, calculations and engineering reviews.
Candidate Engineer registration with ECSA or intention to register will be advantageous.

Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical work under guidance.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams across renewable energy and grid-related environments.
