Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader

This Opportunity 

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader for our Northeast Region Bridge Inspection Group. This position is based out of our Valhalla, New York office with flexibility to work from other WSP offices in New York. You will work closely with our New York Bridge Inspection Group Lead on a full-time basis with project management, business development and winning bridge/structure inspection and load rating work for state, transit and local clients.  You will be expected to lead structural inspections, as required, while we grow this region’s bridge inspection group.  Travel may be required for client interaction and structural inspections. 

You will utilize your education, professional engineering licensure, NHI/FHWA bridge/structure inspection certifications, and relevant work experience to perform inspections of bridges, culverts, tunnels, ancillary structures, retaining walls, and other structures for our clients.  Bridge and tunnel inspection/reporting will typically performed per NBIS/NTIS standards and individual client guidance.  Non-NBIS structure inspection/reporting may also be performed.  Inspection reports will utilize various asset management software (AASHTOWare BrM, etc.) and may require recommendations for prioritized maintenance, repair, rehabilitation,  replacement, and/or load rating update. 

 Your Impact  

• Lead major bridge inspection and load rating programs, ensuring safe, high-quality, and profitable project delivery. 

• Grow and strengthen WSP's bridge inspection practice throughout the Northeast Region through strategic business development and client engagement. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with state DOTs, transit agencies, local governments, and other key transportation clients. 

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing technical leadership and practical solutions for bridge and structural asset management. 

• Lead project teams, managing scope, budget, schedule, staffing, subcontractors, and quality performance. 

• Oversee the preparation and review of inspection reports, engineering recommendations, and asset management deliverables. 

• Lead technical aspects of proposals, pursuit activities, contract negotiations, presentations, and interviews. 

• Support regional growth initiatives through market analysis, opportunity identification, forecasting, and pipeline development. 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and future-ready infrastructure solutions. 

• Mentor, develop, and provide leadership to bridge inspection staff and emerging professionals. 

• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, QA/QC procedures, and safety requirements. 

• Maintain technical excellence and stay current on evolving bridge inspection practices, technologies, and industry requirements.

   

Who You Are, 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. 

• Professional Engineer (PE) license. 

• 12+ years of NBIS bridge inspection experience serving transportation clients. 

• Demonstrated success managing bridge inspection projects and leading technical teams. 

• Current NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader certification. 

• Current NHI/FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques certification (NHI 130078). 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Demonstrated leadership, organization, and project management skills, including budget and schedule accountability. 

• Ability to work independently while mentoring and developing junior staff. 

• Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. 

• Physically capable of performing field inspections, including working at heights, climbing, and operating in varying weather conditions. 

• Valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications 

• NTIS Certified Tunnel Inspection Team Leader with up-to-date certifications.

• Additional FHWA/NHI/OSHA Training:

  • 130087 Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures.

  • 135086 Plan of Action for Scour Critical Bridges

  • 135047 Stream Stability and Scour at Highway Bridges for Bridge Inspectors

  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Training

• Experience with the inspection of railroad and complex bridges, tunnels and ancillary structures. 

• Familiar with or certifications in various NDT techniques and UAS applications 

• Familiar with our certifications in rope access techniques and/or UAS operations.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $ 174,400 - $250,100

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
