Project Controller – Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane
At WSP, we don’t just deliver projects – we help shape communities, infrastructure and futures. As one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re now looking for an experienced Project Controller to join our Enterprise Project Controls team, supporting major infrastructure projects across Australia.
The opportunity
This role sits right at the centre of delivery. You’ll partner closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Commercial Managers to ensure projects are set up for success – from cost and schedule control through to earned value, forecasting and performance reporting.
If you enjoy bringing clarity to complexity, working across multidisciplinary teams and having real influence on project outcomes, this one’s for you.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cashflows and forecasts
- Establish and manage project control systems (finance, scheduling, EVM, quality and document control)
- Monitor and report on project performance, including cost, schedule and progress against baselines
- Undertake variance analysis and support corrective actions where required
- Apply Earned Value Management in line with Australian Standards
- Support contract administration, including scope tracking and variations
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a strong project controls culture
What you’ll bring
We are looking for someone who brings:
- 10+ years’ experience as a Project Controller, ideally within infrastructure or major projects
- Strong capability across cost control, scheduling, forecasting and project performance reporting
- Experience with fee estimates, tenders, contracts, claims and variations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and exposure to Power BI
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and the confidence to work with minimal supervision
- A collaborative, team-first approach and strong commitment to safety
- Australian work rights or a pathway to obtain a suitable visa
- A bachelor’s degree and exposure to major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
