Associate Engineer - Liveable Places

We are looking to appoint an Associate Highway Engineer into WSP's Liveable Places team. The role can be based from either our Bristol, Leeds, London, Newcastle or Southampton offices with flexible working allowing for a mix of home and in-office working.
WSP's Liveable Places team work with a wide range of local authority & private clients from across the UK to help them achieve their place making ambitions. As an Associate Engineer within the team you will take the lead on delivering a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery - including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and pedestrian / traffic modelling.
As an Associate within our Liveable Places team, you will:
- Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs
- Undertake technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables within the team
- Act as Project Manager on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop our work with clients
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practice
- Oversee projects budget and financial performance
- Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team and our colleagues in the wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives

The Liveable Places team are based in offices across the country with over 200 staff, currently making up the team and with further growth planned. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what we do. We have a strong track record working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Liveable Places and help support and steer its growth going forward.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- A civil engineering degree, transport planning degree or equivalent
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (desirable)
- Knowledge of current transport policy and standards
- A proven ability to support with work winning and supporting the growth of our Liveable Places team
- Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
- Proven track record in project management and financial control
- Passion for mentoring and developing talent
- Transport, road safety, parking and traffic engineering experience
- Good spoken and written communication skills. With the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
