About Our Asset Management & Planning (AMP) Team
Our national AMP team delivers consulting services across strategic planning, master planning, detailed planning, business cases, and asset management for water and sewer networks, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and broader water infrastructure. We partner with major clients including Urban Utilities, Coliban Water, Melbourne Water, and SA Water. With a strong pipeline of work and impressive backlog, we offer both stability and the opportunity to be selective in the projects we pursue.
The Opportunity – Associate / Principal Planning Engineer
Reporting to the Water Section Executive, Asset Management & Planning, you will play a key role in technical delivery, client engagement, and business development.
This is a strategic leadership position, where you will help strengthen our pipeline, lead complex projects, and contribute to the continued growth and success of our Water business.
What You’ll Do
- Drive business development and contribute to winning work aligned with AMP services
- Lead the technical delivery of projects across a range of water programs
- Support and mentor team members, fostering a high-performing and inclusive culture
- Translate strategic plans into actionable delivery outcomes
- Build strong client relationships and represent WSP at industry events
- Contribute to thought leadership within the water sector
About You
This role is critical to our future growth. We’re looking for a leader who can inspire teams, deliver technical excellence, and build trusted client relationships. You will bring:
- Strong connections within the water utilities market
- Proven project management experience and commercial acumen in a consulting environment
- Expertise in infrastructure and/or detailed planning for water, recycled water, or sewer systems
- Experience developing and executing strategic growth initiatives
- A demonstrated ability to win work and strengthen client partnerships
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver successful project outcomes
