Job Summary
Provides support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers for pavement design, management, and evaluation projects located across the US. Tasks may include basic assistance with review, data collection, data analysis, and reporting on the development and analysis of pavement performance. Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding completed analysis to support pavement design and management projects. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Contributes technical specialization within WSP’s Pavement Technical Excellence Center.
- Provides advanced technical knowledge in pavement management and pavement engineering projects for federal, state, and local governments, and for industrial-commercial clients.
- Contributes to complex projects, and leads tasks or phases of large projects
- Contributes to business development opportunities through technical proposal development, networking, specialized service offerings and with time, professional reputation
- Contributes positively to a committed, professional team environment
- With time, develops as an expert resource working across the company
- Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and permitting.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in pavement engineering
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in pavement engineering which may be via internship or post-graduate study.
- Knowledge of roadway or airport pavement research, management, evaluation, design, and/or construction is required
- Specialization in one or more of the following: modelling, PCC, mechanistic-empirical design, or maintenance/rehabilitation is highly desirable
- Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Experience with database applications such as Access, SQL Server or Oracle
- Experience with R, Python, Matlab, and/or ArcGIS
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
- Experience developing statistical models or applying machine learning approaches.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $78,300 - $100,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
