WSP is currently initiating a search for an Environmental Technician for our Corpus Christi, TX field office. The ideal candidate would be involved in projects within our WSP USA Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Monitoring and tracking remediation system performance to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and achievement of project objectives.
- Conducting routine groundwater and soil sampling in accordance with established sampling protocols and quality standards.
- Performing monitoring well gauging activities, including groundwater level measurements and documentation of field observations.
- Operating, inspecting, and maintaining treatment and remediation systems through routine operations and preventive maintenance activities.
- Troubleshooting system issues and performing minor repairs to equipment, instrumentation, and associated infrastructure.
- Coordinating with subcontractors, vendors, and service providers to facilitate major repairs, specialized maintenance, and equipment replacements.
- Collecting, managing, and analyzing field and operational data to support reporting requirements and performance evaluations.
- Preparing accurate and timely field reports, maintenance logs, sampling documentation, and other project records.
- Maintaining consistent and proactive communication with the WSP management team regarding system status, operational issues, maintenance activities, and project progress.
- Supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements while conducting all field and operational activities.
- Assisting with the implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall system performance and reliability.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 0-2 years of experience with water treatment system operations and maintenance.
- Minimum 0-2 years of experience with water sample collection.
- Working knowledge of and proficiency with typical hand and power tools, and the ability to troubleshoot or identify issues with plumbing and electrical components..
- Transportation Worker Identification Credentialed (TWIC) or ability to pass a Transportation Security Administration background check for TWIC.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently under general guidance, and the ability to work reliably as part of a team, closely following direction from Senior Environmental Staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Teams .
- Effective technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Related and equivalent experience with other areas of environmental monitoring, remediation, and compliance will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
- HAZWOPER 40-hr Training and current 8-hr refresher training.
- Experience with waste containerizing, tracking, and disposal documentation.
Physical Demands
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time, either stationary or walking.
- Field activities that may require working in a variety of unfavorable weather conditions, including heat and cold.
- Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
