Discipline Lead / Principal Structural Engineer

Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
— Accountable for business and project delivery of high quality engineering design and drafting of major roads and other
transport projects and meet revenue projection and client expectation.
— Provides necessary technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the bridges and civil structures design and drafting
staff to assure total quality of all engineering efforts.
— Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
— Resource staff ahead of time to align with the forecasted pipeline.
— Be the managerial interface between offices.
— Join regional team meetings.
— Report on teams forecasted utilisation weekly and periodically.
— Maintain an inclusive, dynamic and high performing culture that is above our competitors.
— Develop the appropriate quality engineering solutions, coordinate the activities of other team members and assist in
production as needed to meet schedules.
— Keeps abreast of new methods and developments relevant to area of expertise.
— Responsible for allocating resources for project needs.
— May serve as the Project Engineer or Project Manager when dictated by the project size / complexity or upon
management’s request.
— Ensure that Design Standards are met and that design quality procedures are observed.
— Conscientiously works towards the team’s quality objectives and adheres to the company’s quality policy.
— Looks into business opportunities for WSP or assist Transport Manager in proposals related to line of expertise.
— Evaluates technical and logistic problem/s of staff to ensure smooth flow of operation and maintain high standard and
quality of work.
— Present to local staff consistently and to lead office at least 2 times a year to maintain your profile within the business.
— Undertakes training programs to improve/ strengthen technical capability of the team and encourage active participation of
staff in different professional organization.
— Evaluate staff performance in line with HR procedures.
— Performs other tasks as assigned by the Regional Executive/ Regional Director in line with expertise, qualification or
discipline.
— Develop the Digital Engineering capabilities of the team.
Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable):
— Bachelor’s degree or appropriate qualified experience, preferably licensed civil engineer
— At least fifteen (15) years of work experience in a consultancy environment with experience on road design, drainage services
or other civil engineering design
— Clear understanding of construction processes to ensure alignment with design process
— Successfully managed and led multiple diverse teams of numerous sizes.
Experience, skills and organisational knowledge
— Experience in the management and delivery of technical aspects of infrastructure projects
— Knowledgeable of local and international design standards
— Knowledgeable of structural analysis and related software
— Strong relationship building capability, collaboration, influencing and communication skills across country-cultures
