WSP is seeking a Geologist, Engineering Geologist, or Geotechnical Engineer with at least 2 years of core logging experience to join our Brisbane-based Geotechnical & Tunnels team and contribute to some of Australia’s most interesting and technically challenging infrastructure projects. You’ll be supported by strong local teams, a global network of expertise, and clear pathways for career growth, while balancing hands-on fieldwork with analysis, design input and client‑focused project delivery.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the field programs for large infrastructure jobs around Brisbane. Initial assignment involves rig supervision for a project northwest of Brisbane, where you will work a 10 on 4 off roster, housed at a fully serviced camp site. You will work closely with other members from WSP, contractors, and client delivery teams with your input adding to the successful delivery of the project. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your technical skills as you will be working under a Principal level engineering geologist.
Joining WSP for this role will provide you with a real, structured career path where you can progress from rig supervision to site manager to project manager while working on some of the most exciting projects on offer in Australia.
What you’ll do
- Plan and deliver geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, logging and in‑situ testing
- Manage contractors, implement health and safety controls
- Liaise with the WSP project team, contractors, and the client to ensure the successful delivery of projects
- Prepare daily field records and borehole logs
- Analyse geotechnical and geological data to inform design and construction outcomes
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure projects
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
- Receive overtime pay and per diem for days spent on site
About you
- Degree qualified in Geology, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering
- 2 - 7 years’ experience in geology or geotechnical field work
- Rock core logging experience required
- Interested in site work, core logging, and working in remote conditions
- Strong grounding in soil and rock mechanics and site investigation practices
- Confident communicator with developing technical writing skills
- Some 4WD experience preferred, current Australian driver’s licence required.
