Build the future with us at the heart of Québec’s mining industry. WSP Mining and Metals is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to act as a technical leader within our team dedicated to surface mine water management. In this role, you will join multidisciplinary specialists who work to ensure site safety, climate resilience, risk management, and regulatory compliance for some of the largest mining clients in Québec and beyond.
This role is for someone who wants to:

- Contribute to complex mining projects, from concept through to closure and restoration.
Your Impact
Technical Expertise and Leadership
- Act as a technical reference in mining hydrology, hydraulics, and hydrotechnics.
- Define, supervise, and review hydrologic studies, water balances, and dam breach analyses.
- Design and evaluate hydraulic structures such as ditches, channels, ponds, culverts, spillways, flood outlets, pumping stations, and more.
- Contribute to the preparation of plans and specifications.
Risk Management and the Mining Life Cycle
- Assess surface water risks, including flooding, capacity exceedance, erosion, and extreme flood management.
- Integrate surface water management into decisions related to:
- Mine operations planning;
- Development of mining infrastructure;
- Operational management and expansions;
- Site closure and restoration.
- Support climate change adaptation strategies.
Collaboration and Influence
- Work closely with our specialized teams in tailings management, geotechnical engineering, environment, and infrastructure.
- Supervise and mentor intermediate and junior water management engineers.
- Contribute to the evolution of internal technical practices.
- Participate, based on interest, in business development, project leadership, and/or people management.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline;
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
- Significant experience as an engineer in hydrology, hydraulics, or water management; mining experience is an asset;
- Demonstrated ability to exercise senior technical judgment and influence decision-making;
- Fluency in French; functional English required;
- Proficiency with hydrology and hydraulic software (e.g., HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, GoldSim, PCSWMM, FLO‑2D).
- Proficiency in HEC‑RAS 2D or another 2D modeling software is an asset.
- Knowledge of Québec and Canadian laws and regulations governing mine water management is an asset.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800
MB & ON: $111,000 – $147,400
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $111,000 – $147,400
