WSP’s Mine Advisory team support some of Australia’s most innovative mining projects with bespoke industry leading technical solutions. Due to consistent growth and an exceptional opportunity to expand our remit, we are looking for a Mine Closure professional to lead our Newcastle/Hunter Valley team as we support the area’s inventive closure and rehabilitation projects.
As a Mine Closure Lead you’ll:
- Contributing to and implementing our Global and APAC mine closure strategy.
- Providing robust technical input and direction, with a key focus on mine closure leadership, planning and execution in New
- South Wales (NSW).
- Providing Project Direction, which includes overseeing and coordinating mine closure planning, landform design, and
- erosion analysis.
- Strengthen WSP’s market position by proactively seeking internal and external opportunities.
- Comply with all role-specific SHEQ obligations.
- Establish project OHS&E objectives and targets.
- Promote the continual improvement of best practice OHS&E and Quality systems and behaviours.
- Coach others in identifying and managing ethical issues in the work or practice area.
- As a technical leader, proactively maintain effective networks and relevant industry relationships to secure cooperation in
- achieving business and client outcomes.
- Participation in company development initiatives, such as the Professional Associate Program and/or PANs.
- Seek information to understand client needs and effectively anticipate and meet client needs, and encourage client focus in
- colleagues, including coordination with other disciplines.
- Be a leader in Safety in Design.
- Mentor junior engineers and scientists in technical, project delivery and client relationships.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Science or equivalent, coupled with previous consulting experience, will be highly regarded;
- Substantial experience in mine rehabilitation and mine closure planning.
A proven track record in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects on-time and on-budget.
Balances innovation, quality and technical excellence with delivery to timelines and cost.
