Mechanical Design Engineer

Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
— Responsible for the Mechanical services design of building services and associated systems of work.
— Manage and maintain the record of all incoming and outgoing drawings from the office in accordance with WSP QA
procedures.
— Apply legislation, standards, guidelines and project specifications.
— Liaison with WSP personnel and WSP’s partners both local and foreign affiliates and clients.
— Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines of the design team.
— Manage and control outputs in accordance with the design work program.
— Attend meeting when required.
— At all times exhibit behaviour, consistent with that of a professional member of WSP.
— Assist and contribute with the training and development of junior staff.
— Assist in multidisciplinary project activities.
— Comply with all role specific SHEQ obligations.
— Develop ability to apply safety in design to all projects.
— Prepare technical reports on small to medium projects.
— Use of HVAC software and 3D modelling to develop mechanical system designs.
— Carry out any assignments that will be given from time to time by the management.
Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable):
— Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.
— Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) is a plus
Experience, skills and organisational knowledge
— At least 7 years of experience in a similar capacity
— Knowledge in Camel program or other HVAC load estimating software
— Design HVAC Systems
HVAC design engineers create heating and cooling systems and their controls.
— Calculate Heating and Cooling Needs
Make load calculations to determine how much heating and cooling power various equipment must put out in order to heat or cool spaces when needed.
— Interpret and Draft Plans
— Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and blueprints for new construction projects. They also draft new plans to design ductwork and piping systems.
— Calculate Ventilation Requirements
Calculate ventilation requirements based on the types of systems needed.
— Coordinate with Others
Coordinate and collaborate with architects and engineers when designing heating and cooling systems.
— Adhere to All Building Codes
Follow all building codes (and obtain proper building permits when necessary).
— Aware of organization approach to risk management, ethics and safety.
— Develops an understanding of WSP’s organization capability and how to access it.
— Developing technical skills across a broad range of areas within discipline.
— Developing experience in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple varying size projects and applying business
systems.
— Developing capacity to deliver best client outcomes/options which have saved the client/cost time.
— Developing skills to identify risk in small to medium profile projects. — Developing experience in managing client relations and expectations. — Developing experience in supervising others on tasks.
— AutoCAD and Revit experience is a plus
