Job Description
At WGU, data-driven decision making plays a critical role in advancing our mission and supporting organizational success. The Financial Analyst II will be responsible for planning, forecasting, and executive-level financial reporting for supported business units and for spending variance analysis, financial analysis, and interpreting financial information to operational leadership.
What You'll Do:
Leverage AI to develop innovative solutions that enhance financial processes, reporting accuracy, forecasting capabilities, and decision-making.
Perform month-end close activities including variance analysis, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial results reporting while ensuring adherence to internal controls.
Analyze financial performance, identify trends, investigate variances, and communicate findings to stakeholders and operational leaders.
Develop and maintain forecasts for enrollment, profit and loss statements, and other key financial components to support business planning.
Create financial business cases, including ROI analyses, breakeven assessments, and projection models for proposed programs, projects, and initiatives.
Monitor, design, develop, and report key performance indicators (KPIs), providing recommendations that support strategic and operational decisions.
Support the development and enhancement of financial reporting, analysis, and inquiry tools while assisting with the preparation of industry reporting requirements.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities You'll Need to be Successful:
Expertise using Excel and other financial reporting applications
Strong data analysis/automation skills utilizing advanced tools such as Power Query, Power Pivot, SQL, and ERP systems (i.e., Hyperion, Cognos, TM1, Essbase, etc.).
Knowledge of the best financial analysis practices, tools, and techniques
Work Location:
This is a full-time, in-office position requiring five days per week in our Salt Lake City, Utah office, designed to foster the collaboration and connection that fuel our best work.
What You'll bring (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
4 years of relevant experience
Bonus Points for (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience designing, building, and deploying AI-powered solutions, including AI agents, workflow automations, and advanced analytics tools.
