Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365, Power Platform & Copilot Architect to serve as the enterprise technical authority for our digital workplace ecosystem. This role is responsible for defining and evolving the strategy, architecture, governance, operational model, and roadmap across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and related services.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to drive platform modernisation, governance maturity, cost optimisation, AI adoption, operational excellence, mergers & acquisitions integration activities, and enterprise-wide productivity transformation.

This position requires a strong architect capable of partnering with executive stakeholders, business leaders, security teams, IT operations, and external vendors to ensure that Microsoft technologies are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives. The architect will serve as a trusted advisor, technical decision-maker, and escalation point for the organisation's Microsoft productivity and low-code platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Architecture & Strategy

• Own the architectural vision, roadmap, and operating model for Microsoft 365 services.
• Define enterprise standards, design principles, governance controls, and technology guardrails.
• Lead architecture reviews and solution assurance activities for business and technology initiatives.
• Evaluate new Microsoft capabilities and determine business applicability, risks, and implementation approaches.
• Establish architecture patterns for collaboration, communication, content management, automation, AI, and integration workloads.
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and productivity improvement.

Microsoft 365 Platform Ownership

Provide architectural leadership across:

• Exchange Online
• SharePoint Online
• OneDrive for Business
• Microsoft Teams
• Microsoft Entra ID
• Microsoft 365 Administration
• Microsoft Viva
• Microsoft Graph

• Define and govern enterprise Power Platform architecture.
• Establish Power Platform Centre of Excellence (CoE) standards.
• Define environments strategy, solution lifecycle management, and governance controls.

• Establish DLP policies and connector governance.
• Define citizen developer guardrails and operating procedures.

Copilot & AI Enablement

• Lead architecture and governance for Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio.
• Develop enterprise AI adoption frameworks and deployment standards.
• Define governance for:
  • Copilot licensing
  • Agents
  • Plugins
  • Connectors
  • Knowledge sources
  • Responsible AI implementation
• Establish AI solution review processes and approval workflows.
• Drive value realisation and business outcome measurement for AI investments.
• Support business teams in identifying and implementing transformative AI use cases.

Licensing & Cost Optimization

• Own Microsoft licensing architecture and optimization strategies.
• Perform consumption analysis and identify savings opportunities.
• Develop chargeback/show back models where required.
• Lead platform rationalization initiatives.
• Analyze utilization trends and recommend cost optimization opportunities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

Strategic Platform Initiatives

Lead major enterprise initiatives including:

• Digital workplace transformation
• Collaboration platform modernization
• AI enablement programs
• Enterprise automation programs
• Governance maturity improvements
• User experience enhancements
• Productivity improvement initiatives
• Roadmap implementation programs

Mergers & Acquisitions Support

Provide architectural leadership for:

• M&A technology due diligence
• Tenant assessments
• Integration planning
• Tenant-to-tenant migrations
• Collaboration platform consolidation
• Identity alignment
• Governance harmonization
• Data migration strategies
• Carve-outs and divestitures

Platform Integration & Automation

• Define enterprise integration architectures.
• Design solutions leveraging:
  • Microsoft Graph
  • REST APIs
  • Power Platform Connectors
  • Azure Services
  • Enterprise Applications
• Establish reusable integration patterns and standards.
• Govern authentication, security, and data access requirements.

Operational Excellence & Support Leadership

• Act as highest-level escalation point for complex Microsoft platform issues.
• Provide architectural guidance to L2 and L3 support teams.
• Drive automation and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Establish monitoring, reporting, and service health standards.
• Define operational procedures, runbooks, and support models.
• Reduce support costs through engineering-led improvements and automation.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Serve as trusted advisor to business and IT leadership.
• Present architecture recommendations and investment cases to executives.
• Influence platform strategy decisions across multiple business functions.
• Partner with Microsoft and strategic vendors.
• Guide consulting partners and delivery teams.

Required Experience

• 10+ years of IT experience.
• 7+ years focused on Microsoft 365 architecture and administration.
• 5+ years of Power Platform architecture experience.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide Microsoft 365 environments supporting thousands of users.
• Proven experience with governance, operational support, architecture, and transformation initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with executive stakeholders.
