We are looking for candidates to take the role of Infrastructure Engineer and help us to:
· Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Gitlab to release new Linux RPM packages for web products.
· Assess new security fixes from vendor to determine the applicability and severity to UBS environment.
· Analyze issues reported by central vulnerability scanning team, provide remediation steps to resolve the vulnerabilities or new packages where needed.
· Work closely with infrastructure compliance validation team to develop Chef scripts to identify platform deviations. Develop and maintain Chef remediation scripts to resolve infrastructure compliance deviations.
· Provide support to reliability teams for escalated issues, work closely with product vendor to resolve production issues and bugs
· Engineer application hosting platforms such as Apache, Tomcat and WebSphere Application Server.
The key responsibilities are:
• develop and improve application hosting infrastructure services
• provide infrastructure services that are easy to consume and efficient to operate, making effective use of cloud capabilities (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
• apply a broad range of engineering practices, from analyzing requirements and developing new features to automated testing, deployment, and operations
• ensure the quality, security, reliability, and compliance of solutions by applying our digital principles and implementing both functional and non-functional requirements
• build observability into our solutions, monitor production health, help to resolve incidents, and remediate the root cause of risks and issues.
• learn new technologies and practices, reuse strategic platforms and standards, evaluate options, and make decisions with long-term sustainability in mind

You will be a member of Application Hosting POD that is part of the Operating Systems and Middleware (OSM) team
In our agile operating model, crews are aligned to larger products and services fulfilling client needs and encompass multiple autonomous pods. You’ll be working in the Distributed Hosting stream in Pune, India within the OSM crew who is focused on engineering Web, Messaging, File Transfer and Azure based hosting platforms. The teams are located in India, US and Europe.
The OSM crew supports our POD members with a hybrid and flexible working model. There is a well-organized onboarding process that ensure you have a good start and settle into the new role smoothly. In joining us, you will have multiple learning opportunities to grow and participate in initiatives focused on your passions.
Your expertise
• a university degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent
• ideally 8+ years of hands-on experience as infrastructure engineer focused on Web Technologies and core java developer
• Java backend development experience and excellent knowledge is a must
• Java frontend development experience will be a plus
• confident communicator that can explain technology to non-technical audiences
• self-motivated, well organized and able to work across multiple projects and to tight deadlines
• experience in engineering web hosting products such as Apache, Tomcat, IBM WebSphere Application Server and IIS for a large and complex environment.
• proficient in Chef, Ansible, JIRA and Gitlab
• excellent in scripting (Python/Javascript/Shell/PowerShell)
• experience in building and maintaining Linux RPM packages
• proficient knowledge on Linux operating system
• ITIL process know-how for incident, change and problem management
• knowledge on Azure Cloud platform will be a plus
• experience in engineering web hosting products such as Apache, Tomcat, IBM WebSphere Application Server and IIS for a large and complex environment will be a plus
