What's in it for you:
The Unitary Systems Engineer is responsible for the implementation and continuous development of Systems Engineering tools and practices in support of product development and architecture governance. This key position is responsible for the process of requirements management, interface management, and other technical documentation critical to the systematic design and governance of the Trane Commercial Unitary architecture portfolio.
What you will do:
Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle, including New Product Development (NPD), New Technology Projects (NTP), and “Always On” work for Systems Management.
Own the Requirements Management process, including the decomposition of internal and external stakeholder needs into functional System Requirements, working with cross-functional stakeholders and Engineering SMEs.
Own the Systems Interface Management and critical interface documentation, working with Module Owners and the CAD Design Team.
Establish, maintain, and expand definitions of Systems Engineering tools to support portfolio architecture governance.
Be an active member of the Global Systems Engineering Council and lead aspects of the Requirements and Test Case Management (RTCM) workstream.
Work closely with the Unitary Architects to manage Architecture Governance.
Work closely with Engineering Project Leads to manage project level System and Module Requirements.
Support additional Systems Engineering practices, such as the “V-model” (Verification and Validation), System Diagrams, and FMEAs.
Occasionally lead New Technology Projects in support of architecture needs.
Support implementation of Systems Engineering and product development processes and champion improvements.
Train and/or mentor Systems Architects, Engineering Leads, and Module Owners on Systems Engineering tools and processes.
Champion architecture integrity through the product lifecycle.
Work independently with minimal supervision
Some overnight travel will be required, approximately 10%.
What you will bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering and at least 7 years of product development experience in the HVAC, or similar, industry is required.
A Master's Degree in Engineering is a plus.
A Master's Degree or certificate in Systems Engineering is a plus.
INCOSE ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP certification is a plus.
Key Competencies:
Knowledge of and experience with Systems Engineering tools and requirements.
Knowledge of design and architecture tools and principles.
Strong foundation of the following subsystems: Cabinets/Structures, Refrigeration, Airflow, Heat or similar.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Organizational courage to raise issues and provide solutions to problems.
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with teams in multiple locations
Product development knowledge.
