Where is the work:
On-Site (5 days)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to manage the procurement of raw materials, components, supplies, and services required to support our manufacturing operations. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with production, inventory, and management teams to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery objectives. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced small-company environment where flexibility, initiative, and strong communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase raw materials, components, packaging, consumables, and other supplies needed for manufacturing operations.
- Monitor inventory levels and production schedules to ensure timely replenishment of materials.
- Create MRP schedules and manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve any supply issues.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier consolidation.
- Coordinate with production personnel to understand material requirements and priorities.
- Verify order accuracy went received to address discrepancies, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor files, and inventory data within company systems.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Assist with inventory counts and inventory management initiatives.
- Support management with purchasing reports, spending analysis, and supplier evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical purchasing practices.
- Willingness to take on other responsibilities beyond purchasing
Qualifications
- High School degree mandatory. Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum 2 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
