Job Summary
Are you a bilingual (English & Mandarin Chinese) indirect tax professional with sharp commercial acumen and a passion for technology?
We're looking for a commercially driven, client-facing Pre-Sales Indirect Tax Consultant to join our growing team in Beijing. In this pivotal role, you'll sit at the intersection of tax expertise, technology, and sales — working closely with our sales team to uncover client challenges, shape tailored solutions, and drive business growth using our industry-leading SaaS portfolio, including ONESOURCE Determination, ONESOURCE Compliance, and e-invoicing platform Pagero.
This is a high-visibility opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced commercial environment and wants to leverage deep indirect tax expertise to make a tangible business impact.
About the Role
As a Pre-Sales Indirect Tax Consultant, you will be responsible for the following:
- Solution Consulting: Provide deep indirect tax and e-invoicing solution expertise to support the sales team in defining, scoping, and presenting solutions that meet client needs, leveraging our suite of indirect tax SaaS products including ONESOURCE Determination, ONESOURCE Compliance, and Pagero.
- Customer Needs Analysis: Lead in-depth discovery sessions with prospective clients to understand their indirect tax pain points and compliance workflows, and develop compelling proposals that clearly differentiate our solutions from competitors.
- Product Demonstrations: Design and deliver high-impact product demonstrations throughout the customer buying cycle, showcasing the full capabilities of our indirect tax SaaS solutions in a way that resonates with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Sales Cycle Management: Respond swiftly to new leads, progress opportunities through the sales cycle, and work alongside the sales team to close deals — meeting and exceeding recurring and outright gross sales targets.
- Domain Knowledge: Stay ahead of indirect tax regulatory changes, e-invoicing mandates, and market trends to maintain thought leadership, build credibility with clients, and effectively position our products as the solution to their challenges.
- Customer Relationship Management: Utilise Salesforce and other CRM tools to maintain accurate pipeline, opportunity, and client data to support forecasting, stakeholder visibility, and effective engagement across the sales process.
- Customer Advocacy: Act as a trusted advocate for clients, supporting complex renewals and retention situations, driving closure of high-value deals, and representing the voice of the customer internally to continuously improve our solutions and go-to-market approach.
About You
As a Pre-Sales Indirect Tax Consultant, you should possess the following:
- Industry Experience: 3 – 5 years of hands-on experience in indirect tax, e-invoicing, or a related domain — ideally within a SaaS, technology, or consulting environment.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial mindset with a proven track record of contributing to sales outcomes through pre-sales, bid management, or client advisory roles — you understand the sales process and know how to win.
- Client-Facing Skills: Exceptional presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels — from tax managers to C-suite executives.
- Subject Matter Expertise: In-depth understanding of finance, tax, and accounting departments, including systems, processes, and workflows, enabling you to quickly identify client needs and map them to the right solutions.
- Consultative & Problem-Solving Skills: A consultative approach to client engagement — you listen first, ask the right questions, and craft solutions that genuinely address client challenges rather than leading with a product pitch.
- Multi-Project Management: Ability to manage multiple pre-sales engagements simultaneously, prioritise effectively under pressure, and identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across our indirect tax and broader solutions portfolio.
- Language Requirements: Full professional fluency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese is mandatory for this role.
