Data Quality / Steward with AI Engineer - Senior Manager

We are seeking an Data Quality engineer responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of critical business data across enterprise systems. In this role, your primary focus will be to perform data quality (DQ) checks, analyze data issues, support remediation, and collaborate with business, operations, and technology teams to improve data quality outcomes.
This role requires 12-15 years of experience in data quality, data analysis, data governance, or related enterprise data roles, with strong hands-on experience in data validation, profiling, reconciliation, issue analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate will be a strong individual contributor with working knowledge of cloud platforms and AI concepts to support modern data environments, automation opportunities, and improved monitoring practices.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
Data Quality Operations & Controls
- Perform end-to-end data quality checks across critical datasets to validate accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and integrity
- Execute and maintain data quality rules, thresholds, scorecards, and control reports to monitor data health across source and downstream systems
- Conduct data profiling, reconciliation, and trend analysis to identify anomalies, exceptions, duplicates, and missing or invalid records
Data Analysis, Investigation & Remediation
- Investigate data quality issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate with source system owners, data engineers, and business users to support timely resolution
- Run and optimize SQL-based validations, reconciliation checks, and exception reporting across multiple data sources and business processes
- Support remediation activities by defining and tracking:
- Issue logs, defect trends, and remediation plans
- Escalations, ownership tracking, and closure validation
- Prepare data quality reports, dashboards, and management updates that communicate issue status, trends, business impact, and progress against remediation actions
- Work with stakeholders to improve data collection, validation, and control processes and support best practices for high-quality data management
Data Governance, Reporting & Enablement:
- Support data governance standards, including data definitions, business rules, ownership alignment, and control procedures
- Work with technology teams to embed data quality controls into data pipelines, reporting processes, and cloud-based data platforms
- Monitor and report on data quality KPIs, SLA adherence, recurring defects, and control effectiveness for key business processes
- Contribute ideas on using cloud capabilities and AI-enabled techniques to improve anomaly detection, monitoring efficiency, reporting, and data quality operations
Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with business users, operations teams, and technology partners to understand critical data issues and align remediation priorities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen data controls, reduce recurring defects, and improve trust in enterprise data
- Follow up across teams to support timely closure of data issues, maintain clear tracking, and provide transparent status updates
- Stay current on evolving practices in data quality, cloud data platforms, and AI-assisted data operations and recommend practical improvements where appropriate.
- Strong hands-on experience with data quality checks, data profiling, reconciliation, validation rules, issue analysis, and root-cause investigation
- Good understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, especially in relation to data platforms, storage, reporting, and control automation
- Working knowledge of AI / ML concepts, including anomaly detection, pattern recognition, supervised and unsupervised learning basics, and how AI can support data monitoring and operational efficiency
- Understanding of AI model and data evaluation concepts, including data drift, model performance monitoring, false positives / false negatives, and quality metrics relevant to AI-driven data checks
- Awareness of Generative AI and prompt engineering basics, including the ability to use AI assistants responsibly for data analysis support, documentation, and productivity enhancement
- Familiarity with responsible AI and AI governance principles, including explainability, bias awareness, data privacy, and appropriate human oversight in AI-supported workflows
- Solid knowledge of SQL, data analysis, reporting, metadata, and enterprise data flows across upstream and downstream systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain data issues, business impact, and remediation actions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with data governance frameworks, control processes, and data quality metrics in enterprise environments
- Exposure to cloud-based data tools, data warehouses, data lakes, or reporting platforms is preferred
- Experience using automation, analytics, or AI-assisted techniques to improve data validation and monitoring is a plus
- Relevant certifications in cloud, data management, data governance, or analytics are a plus
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
- 12-15 years of experience in data quality, data analysis, data governance, reporting, or related enterprise data roles
