Workforce Data Analyst (State Street Bank and Trust Company; Boston, MA): Help State Street’s Global Human Resources (GHR) convert vast data sets into clear and concise information and insights to directly inform workforce decisions for senior leadership. The beneficiary will consult with senior leaders to utilize the workforce information in a way that supports the respective leaders’ strategic talent goals and will partner with other GHR COE’s to bridge workforce plans to talent plans and strategic initiatives. Specific duties of the position include management of and participation in all phases of analytics and reporting projects, including, but not limited to: consulting with key stakeholders, including the Leadership Team and the Chief Human Resources Officer, to assess business needs, understand strategic direction and determine analytics required; collaborating and consulting with internal data warehouse team to determine data availability and apply basic data engineering techniques when necessary, including utilization of custom SQL queries, R, and/or Tableau Prep to combine multiple data sources and manipulate or restructure data; leading team of experienced Tableau dashboard developers who are not direct reports, providing both strategic direction/project management and technical expertise during troubleshooting, stepping in to provide direct design work when necessary; providing hands on leadership on quality assurance and data validation, ensuring that dashboards both meet necessary technical requirements and, more importantly, tell a story that informs and drives the organization to action; and presenting final dashboards and KPIs back to stakeholders, interpreting the data and overlaying qualitative insights to successfully communicate analytical findings and strengthens their ability to provide evidence-based HR solutions. Additional duties include: applying advanced analytics techniques, such as regression modeling, to deepen the organizations understanding of the drivers of employee behavior, including model development in R and/or Python, and interpretation of model results to both technical and non-technical audiences; fulfilling ad-hoc reporting and analytics requests from GHR Leadership and HR Business Partners in a timely manner, utilizing Tableau, Tableau Prep, and/or Excel in a way that meets a one-time need, while maintaining alignment with standard practices and metrics; fostering and maintaining sustained relationship with GHR Leadership team and HR Business Partners, engaging with them on a regular basis to build trust and demonstrate accountability and competence; utilizing creative problem-solving to find innovative solutions with minimal direction from above; partnering with external benchmarking vendors to compare State Street against industry leaders, identify performance gaps, enhance leadership decision-making, and ensure State Street is consistently aligned to best practice metric definitions. Full-time telecommuting from within the US permitted pursuant to company policy.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or Data Science plus 5 years of experience in business or data analytics role. Alternatively, employer will accept master's degree, or its equivalent, in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or Data Science plus 3 years of experience in business or data analytics role.
Must also have: 3 years of experience using Tableau to manage/manipulate data, create visualizations, and build and publish comprehensive dashboards; 2 years of experience managing full cycle data analytics projects, including consulting directly with internal stakeholders to collect requirements and present analytics; 1 year of experience, either professionally or during Bachelor’s or Master’s program, using a programming language, such as R, Python, or SAS, for regression modeling and other advanced statistical analysis; Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; Experience consulting and influencing both up and across organizations to translate data into actionable business insights and use KPIs to measure progress against strategic goals; Ability to manage stakeholders at the leadership level; and Proven written and verbal communication skills.
