Business Analyst, AVP
State StreetRole Summary & Role Description
We are hiring for an experienced AVP – Business Analyst with 15+ years of experience in Capital Markets / Security Finance domain. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in bridging business stakeholders and technology teams, driving end-to-end requirement lifecycle, and delivering solutions aligned to front-to-back trading and post-trade processing.
The candidate should have strong experience in business analysis lifecycle (elicitation, documentation, validation, delivery support) and demonstrate deep functional understanding of Capital Markets and Securities Finance workflows.
The individual should be comfortable leading functional streams, driving discussions with senior stakeholders, and also operate as a strong individual contributor with full ownership of deliverables.
This role provides an opportunity to work in niche functional areas such as Equity Swaps, Securities Lending, Financing Solutions, Trade Lifecycle, and Post-Trade Processing, where domain expertise is highly valued.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead requirement gathering, analysis, and documentation across business and technology stakeholders
- Act as the primary interface between business users, product owners, and engineering teams
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, process flows, and use cases
- Drive front-to-back business analysis across trade lifecycle (order capture → execution → booking → settlements/reporting)
- Prepare and maintain key artifacts:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
- Functional Specifications (FSDs)
- Process Flows / Workflow diagrams
- Use cases & acceptance criteria
- Support UAT planning, execution, and business validation cycles
- Perform impact analysis for change requests and regulatory initiatives
- Collaborate with global teams to identify gaps, streamline processes, and optimize workflows
- Provide subject matter expertise in Capital Markets / Sec Finance domain
- Support production issue triage from business perspective and ensure proper root cause understanding
- Drive stakeholder communication, status reporting, and alignment across teams
Must Have Skills
Domain / Functional
- Strong knowledge of Capital Markets, preferably:
- Securities Finance / Securities Lending
- Equity Swaps / Financing Solutions
- Trade lifecycle (Front Office → Middle Office → Back Office)
- Good understanding of:
- Trade booking, lifecycle events, settlements, reconciliations
- Regulatory / reporting requirements
Business Analysis
- End-to-end SDLC experience (Agile/Waterfall) including planning and execution
- Strong experience in:
- Requirement elicitation (workshops, stakeholder meetings)
- Functional documentation
- Process modeling (BPMN / workflow diagrams)
- Ability to translate business problems into functional solutions
Data & Tools
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- SQL querying and data analysis (must-have)
- Experience with:
- Postman / API validation / functional testing
- Exposure to messaging concepts (Kafka / MQ) is beneficial for understanding flows

- Experience in Agile Scrum, JIRA, and CI/CD-based delivery models
- Knowledge of data platforms (Databricks / Spark)
- Exposure to Python for data analysis (optional)
Work Model
Due to the role requirements this job needs to be performed primarily in the office with some flex work opportunities available.
