Your Opportunity The role of Senior Civil Engineer is to work collaboratively and interdependently as a team member on a wide range of Community Development projects under the guidance of a Project Manager. Our Community Development team also works with and supports projects from other disciplines in the local area and is part of a team that works on projects across the western US. A Senior Civil Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include design analysis, calculations, preparation of exhibits, mentoring junior staff, and preparation of construction documents. The projects that you will be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope. Your Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for the project team responsible for preparing, grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.
- Prepare and revise documentation for various project phases from feasibility analysis to construction close out.
- Coordinate with geomatics team and obtain appropriate record data required to assemble complete and accurate base information
- Prepare concept design alternatives considering site constraints and project objectives to evolve the project layout
- Stamp plans as engineer of record
- Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Prepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.
- Assist with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.
- Participate in constructability review.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
- Lead effort for processing project documentation to approval and permit availability
- Work with teams to prioritize workload and schedule on multiple projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Requisite knowledge and application of agency and industry applicable codes.
- General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills.
- Thorough understanding of task assignments and scheduling, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Mentor and lead other design team members.
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Minimum 10 years of experience.
- Local project resume and experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in directing junior staff in execution of project deliverables is preferred.
