Your Opportunity Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Civic, Transit, and Federal practice, where we deliver architecture and interior design services that shape communities and essential public infrastructure. With a long-standing commitment to the civic sector, our work spans a diverse range of project types and scales. We are seeking a Project Architect / Project Designer to join our Buildings practice. As a senior member of our Architecture team, you will lead the planning and design of complex projects, working closely with clients to deliver thoughtful, high-performing solutions. You will guide project design, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a key point of contact for clients and subconsultants. Your expertise in construction documentation, specifications, cost considerations, and building codes will support successful project delivery from concept through construction We believe good design extends beyond the built form; it shapes how people live, work, and interact. Our goal is to create spaces that are purposeful, memorable, and responsive to the communities they serve. In this role, you will also mentor emerging professionals and contribute to the growth and culture of the studio. Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead project design and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Serve as a primary interface with clients and subconsultants.
- Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
- Utilize BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
- Participate in design critiques and pin-ups.
- Develop and oversee construction documentation, specifications, and technical coordination.
- Assist in preparation of project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
- Apply knowledge of building codes, cost considerations, and constructability to support successful delivery.
- Participate in bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda.
- Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
- Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to studio growth and culture.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Requisite knowledge and application of accessibility codes, applicable building codes. Also, knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
- Strong understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Ability to conduct space planning, block planning and adjacencies in coordination with building program.
- Ability to develop floor plans, wall sections, and details.
- Ability to check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of architectural document production.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production.
- Ability to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
- Ability to communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written).
- Strong presentation and interview skills.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Abobe Creative Suite, SketchUP.
Education and Experience
- Professionally accredited degree in Architecture or equivalent in support of architectural license required. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- LEED Green Associate Accreditation or LEED AP preferred.
- Experience in Civic, Transit, or Federal projects is strongly preferred.

Pay Range:- Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA, VA Areas-$92,900.00 - $134,600.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
