Data Scientist Intern - Water (Fall 2026)

This Data Science Intern will work on a range of projects focused on the implementation and advancement of research and digital tools and technologies focused on the water, wastewater, biosolids and energy sectors. The intern will work closely with Water BOU’s data strategy manager, machine learning leader, director of innovation and technology and other team members. Collaborate with the Water OI&T research and engineering team to design and develop methodologies and systems employing data exploration (EDA), hypothesis testing and data modeling (e.g. advanced statistics, machine learning, data analytics) in digital solutions. The intern will contribute to the initiatives such as Water BOU’s Digital Transformation and development of digital solutions to support project delivery. The intern will report to an Innovation Portfolio Manager in OI&T. This position can be remote, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Expert level Microsoft product user; Office365 Suite
• Willingness to develop and enhance low-code/no-code skill sets

• Team oriented with earnest willingness to share ideas with OI&T team and explore through quick test-and-learn approaches

Education and/or Experience

• B.S. in computer science, data science, or alternatively other engineering discipline with a minor in CS or DS.
• Programming (Python, MATLAB, C++) experience

Pay Range:

• $23.47 - $34.50 Hourly

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
