Team Overview
Our Application Support team reports to the Head of Core Development and plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of the firm’s trading, risk, and operations platforms. Operating at the intersection of technology and the investment business, the team partners closely with engineers, developers, traders, risk analysts, and operations staff to provide timely support and proactive solutions.
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Application Support Specialist to join our team and provide front-line production support for the firm’s trading, risk, and operations platforms. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and strong business awareness to ensure critical applications run smoothly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
As part of the Application Support team, you will be responsible for monitoring systems, responding to real-time issues, and working directly with investment and operations professionals to resolve problems quickly and effectively. You will also contribute to system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvements that reduce risk and increase efficiency across the firm.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives under pressure, and is comfortable balancing immediate incident management with longer-term support initiatives. This is a hands-on business facing role that offers exposure to a wide range of technologies and business processes.
Existing Technology Stack
Python, C#, AWS, Snowflake, MS SQL Server, DBT, Databricks, Active Batch, Angular, PowerBI, SSRS, Kafka, FlexTrade, Enfusion, Charles River, K8S, DataDog.
Major Responsibilities
- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation shared across the team to provide coverage and support for critical systems, responding to production issues and coordinating escalation and post-mortem analysis
- Monitor systems and processes for availability/performance and assist with the design and implementation of a unified strategic monitoring and alerting platform
- Diagnose production problems as they occur and either resolve or escalate to the appropriate teams for resolution.
- Understand and document the relationships between financial/business requirements and the systems and technologies that serve them
- Create and maintain playbooks for failure scenarios and disaster recovery planning.
- Clearly document new and existing systems at a high level in terms of support requirements, upstream and downstream dependencies, and criticality to the business
- Communicate status of any ongoing issues to technology personnel, business leaders, and senior management
- Participate in evaluation, testing, and introduction of new technology and approaches to the organization
- Help drive the business continuity process across the application ecosystem
- Assist with basic programming tasks including automation, reporting, and code testing.
What We Value
- Broad understanding of enterprise and cloud technology from the level of networking, operating systems, and cloud infrastructure through programming languages and application architecture
- Working knowledge of T-SQL and Python.
- 6+ years of experience in enterprise-level application monitoring, alerting, and response
- 3+ years of experience supporting a workload orchestration platform (ActiveBatch, JAMS, AutoSys, etc.)
- Familiarity with tools / technologies in our tech stack.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team-oriented environment
We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $120,000-170,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus.
