As a Senior Electrical Engineer for Power and Analog Design in the Product Development Team, you will play a crucial role in developing power electronics and analog circuits to meet high standards of performance as envisioned by Sonos. Your work will directly impact the development of next-generation products, from initial concept to final release. You will collaborate closely with experts in embedded electronics, acoustics, mechanical engineering, system software, radio engineering, and JDM to bring our vision to life. This role is located on-site at our Boston office.
This position is office-based, meaning regular in-person collaboration or use of office equipment is essential to maximize effectiveness for this team and/or position. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office and should expect to be in office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Provide technical guidance on power and analog designs within the Electrical System team
Enhance the excellence of Sonos products through research and prototyping of new technologies
Advance the simulation and test methodology of power and analog design
Develop and design analog circuits for AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion, as well as signal conditioning and amplification for audio products
Design custom magnetics for power amplifiers and power supplies
Develop engineering validation plans to ensure high quality of your design
Document your design, validation plans, and test results
Ensure to meet all regulatory requirements including EMC, energy efficiency, and safety
Work cooperatively across disciplines. Collaborate with JDM partners. Lead and mentor junior electrical engineers and JDM electrical engineers in power and analog design
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of related industry experience, or BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years direct experience also considered
Proficient in English in verbal and written communication
Hands-on experience with complete ownership of analog and power electronics design in high volume products
Thorough understanding of efficient power designs including detailed analysis of circuit and magnetics specification
Knowledge of safety and compliance standards for consumer electronic devices
Strong analytical skills, trouble-shooting skills, and system level knowledge
Proficiency in creating and editing schematic and layout files
Proven leadership skills including schedule management and mentoring/motivating/leading project team members
Having worked across disciplines with mechanical, radio, acoustics, compliance, system SW, and other engineering teams including ID, UX, packaging, manufacturing, sourcing et al
Technically inquisitive – must be able to take on new technical challenges and learn new technical skills on-the-fly and apply the knowledge to solve the issue at hand
Ability to develop and execute design validation testing plans
Well-developed reporting and communication skills, including the ability to explain and summarize complicated issues
Ability to use simulation/analysis tools and best engineering judgment to resolve issues
Strong sense of ownership, able to design as well as to explain design decisions to others
Ability to work with people with different culture background and/or in different time zones
You do not have to be an expert in everything, but you are excited by challenges and take initiative to learn and collaborate with others.
Working experience with EEs, MEs, layout engineers, compliance, and program management from JDM partners
Experience in embedded circuit design (CPU, Memory, Ethernet, USB, HDMI, Digital audio, etc.)
Experience using audio test equipment like AP and EMC test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers)
Design experience with integration of Lithium Ion battery management and wired/wireless charging systems. Direct Experience with battery technology (cell and pack level) and battery management and charging systems is a plus
Design experience in audio amplifiers is highly preferred
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements and testing procedures
Knowledge and experience in USB Type-C and/or PD USB-PD
Knowledge and experience in Power over Ethernet is a plus
Experience in wireless communications, audio and acoustic products.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:
$143,000 and $178,500The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
